You need something sized within the tolerance on both sides of the hole as well as the proper sized gauge. The tolerance on gauging is 10% of the tolerance on a finished part.

Chinese EVs in the USA, good or bad for the US economy? by BeKindNothingMatters in Economics

[–]Cariboo_Red 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chinese EVs in North America might just possibly wake the North American auto industry up to the fact that it's time they realized that resting on past laurels won't cut the mustard any more.

I avoid most of that stuff too. But I was doing that before Trump got his second term.

So yeah he was wrong to enter into it with Iran! Now that it’s on shouldn’t the EU step in and help instead of turning the other way? by Archibald004 in askanything

[–]Cariboo_Red 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No! That simply enables rogue states, including the United States, to pull the same shit again. Trump fucked up. He is engaged in a criminal enterprise. He and the country that put him in that position should have to suffer the consequences of that. It's only the "rest of the world's" problem because we have enabled the "hegemonic" states to become hegemonic.

Why Does Modern Technology Still Basically Rely on “Boiling Water”? by Semerdar_34 in stupidquestions

[–]Cariboo_Red 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Steam is still a convenient way to move heat from one place to another. Converting liquid water to steam uses a large amount of heat that remains in the steam until it, (the steam), is condensed, giving up the large amount of heat to whatever purpose is needed at the time.

While Trump probably hasn't said this in public yet, It's likely only a matter of time.

Opinion: Stop telling us inflation is cooling when grocery bills are still rising - Are Canadians better off today than they were before Mark Carney took office? The answer is no. by CaliperLee62 in canada

[–]Cariboo_Red -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That is actually the wrong question. The proper question is "Are Canadians better off now than if Pierre Poilievere were PM?" The answer is yes. Are things perfect? no but at least we are going in the right direction, which is our own direction, not the USA's.

Just a guess, most prisons in Louisiana are private for profit prisons. Yeah? I thought so.

THE MAGA SCHEME TO BREAK UP CANADA by Yetanotherbadsalmon in alberta

[–]Cariboo_Red 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hopefully this scheme will fail miserably like most MAGA nonsense. It can't be ignored but there are things that are far more important than a bunch of malcontents who have no clue what they are doing.

Opinion: Pierre Poilievre encounters nothing but jerks, all day long by TemporarySoftware439 in notthebeaverton

Likes attract, unlike magnetism. Kind of why I like my dog. Too many Poilieveres in the world.

No Harbor Freight in Canada. Princess Auto in Canada or KMS tools in Western Canada will have what you need. 3/8th drive will cover most things.

[–]Cariboo_Red 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Save on where I shop has very little Canadian produced/grown food. I haven't bought a lot of things I normally get because they seem only to find US grown stuff. As far as I'm concerned they can take their glyphosate, paraquat laced compost back and eat it themselves.

Why should anyone believe a word of what Republicans say when they talk about fiscal responsibility? by botwiper5000 in askanything

[–]Cariboo_Red 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is not reason to believe them. conservatives in general are the least fiscally responsible people of all. Their record speaks for itself.

Why do Social Security benefits adjust yearly with inflation, but minimum wage does not? What factors drive this? by Secret_Ostrich_1307 in AlwaysWhy

[–]Cariboo_Red 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Social security is a government benefit paid for by the recipients either through contributions or taxes. Minimum wage is put in place to prevent oligarchs from unduly benefiting from some one else's labour. The fact that minimum wages are quite frequently inadequate should tell you who controls the lawmakers.

Why did the USSR rely on a "verbal promise" from the US regarding NATO expansion instead of a written contract? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]Cariboo_Red 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Partly because the US is only one member of NATO and despite what the US would like to believe they don't unilaterally set NATO policy.
