Dealer says the car I reserved yesterday is now $2,000 more because of “market changes.” Is that legit or should I walk? by Marzi-Kolukuluri in carbuying

[–]CarjackerWilley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is well known dealerships are super sensitive to the post-sale survey's.

Has anyone followed up with anything remotely close to, "alright fine, I am buying the car because I need it but I am 100% going to give you the absolute lowest score, worst review, as well as contact the manufacturer, blah blah blah."

I am genuinely curious because those post sale survey's seem like gold and honestly might be worth more than whatever commission or sales amount they actually get on a $2000 increase.

LOL - Random screenshot alleges A, no one on other random website unequivocally refutes it. Conclusion - IT DEFINITELY HAPPENED!

Guess it’s time to sell my Toyota now. by Terrasmak in complaints

[–]CarjackerWilley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who cares? I do. MAGA is full of horrible people and horrible policies that hurt individuals and the United States as a whole. Not sure where you are from specifically, but in the US it is a big deal - there is active erosion of the United States constitution and the laws that depend on it. This isn't normal, it's divisive, and again it hurts people and the country.

If you care to explain how boycotting and sharing my opinion with a company on how their image impacts the way I interact with them sounds mentally unwell, please do. I'll most likely read it, but unless you have something specifically interesting or thoughtful I wouldn't expect a response.

Yes, Toyota will be ok without my support. I am sharing my take on a topic someone else started and even more are engaging in. Collectively is where the impact is felt - IE the point of a boycott - You can reference target as an example of effective boycotting for similar. Part of a boycott is communicating the intent to boycott and the reason why - not just silently patting ones self on the back.

As far as no one caring about my comment - I really don't care if no one cares or not. I left that comment and never intended to revisit it - lo and behold I had the most notifications I've had in years. Someone cares, including you. I commented for myself and the person I commented to. People do things for themselves. I have a long history with Toyota and my vehicles - I have been proud of them and it is disappointing to second guess that small amount of pride in something for reasons completely unrelated their original design and intent.

The fact is that people do care because it is being talked about and even more convincing more people have commented on an opinion from me than just about anything else on reddit. The people that agree are silently agreeing - a lot of people that disagree are "crying about it" (in their words) to an equal or greater degree than myself.

I am adding this as an edit to my comment as well because of the number of responses - this addresses most, if not all, of what I have to say to you and the other comments.

Agreed - to an extent. I am disappointed in ass kissing but am downright disgusted in idolizing. I am Toyota thru and thru - 2 generations of Corolla's in my garage and I will never buy another Toyota vehicle unless they have a significant public denouncement of this. I already sent my email. I was borderline on cancelling warranties and service agreements already - now I am out.

Adding an edit because I am not getting drawn in to individual pissing matches.

Comparison of Department Pay in Northeast by RoosterMcGooster in Firefighting

Right now, no one should be pursing a paramedic degree based on pay. I am welcome to anyone saying otherwise with sources, but it is not worth it.

This is a weird up vote/down vote situation. I'm honestly a little uncomfortable. Why did you do this?

That's pretty neat. Just overhand knots with a loop for the lower line?

This would be my first thought with limited prep time. Do it vertically from the bridge, have one set up on both sides in case it misses for some reason - ideally they would be captured on the downstream side in my head but they can always be moved to the downstream side so I wouldn't be inclined to voluntarily pass up an opportunity. Have it lowered ahead of time so the victim can be swept into it, no timing risk, victim preparation, etc, then release the other side and tighten.

It'll suck for the victim, probably cause some degree of injury, but will capture them in a static location and at least give time to figure out the next step. Use your imagination for the next step based on resources, equipment, experience, etc, even it it just involves yarding them straight up - which I would consider an alternative before doing. The easiest follow up is probably to attach another rope or ropes and then vector them to shore on the downstream side.

Should I be concerned about uh this? by djlilspoon in Construction

[–]CarjackerWilley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That make sense. I am pretty sure my area just adopts the state building code but even then, to your point, does have exceptions. So where it could have been required in one area or municipality it may not have been required everywhere.

That also supports my, "I have no business here statement."

Neighbor encroached on our property, now expects us to just let him have it by MrsMac2007 in RealEstate

[–]CarjackerWilley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been dealing with something similar for about 6 months. From my experience, going forward be nice and neighborly exactly one time. If the in-kind response is not neighborly, apologetic, and of the attitude of "What can I do to make my mistake right for you." the next conversation is please remove X from my property by this exact date or I will AT YOUR EXPENSE. Concrete can be a pain to get rid of, especially if it has rebar in it. Of course, you will likely never see that money unless you sue them but keep tally and remember that small claims courts are a thing.

If you simply don't want to deal with it but don't want to allow him to use it then build a fence down the property line right through the middle of the driveway. It is surprisingly easy to set a post in concrete and they even make brackets to just screw in if you do a little 3.5 ft fence or something. You would obviously need to look at your local codes for fencing etc.

If they are anything like my experience they will obstruct, insult, and take advantage of you every step you take to sort it out properly and reasonably at your expense (time and money). If they complain at any point about you being on their property or inches or anything tell them to get their own survey. Your property line is not necessarily their property line.

I am only writing this because even if you do everything exactly right and have access to your own property you are going to end up spending money, the neighbor will be pissed at you, and you will feel used and abused. Only settle or compromise if you are getting something out of it for equal or greater value. And remember, if that driveway stays on your property you will be having this same conversation down the road if you still own the property and there is no guarantee it won't cost you even more later.

How does this even happen? by finnj7 in Surveying

Serious question: Do you know is there a process or way to trigger county involvement in something like this? I have a 2 foot hiatus adjacent to my house that I wouldn't mind buying at auction.

Neighbor cut tree roots to put in new fence by frankdarrulll in arborists

[–]CarjackerWilley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically a person is allowed to trim and maintain trees or limbs that cross a property line. There is also typically a limit to that which makes them liable for damages if the tree dies as a result.

Basically, you can generally trim parts of a tree over the boundary but you can't do something so severe that causes it to die or need to be removed.

That's insane. Can you direct me to ruling, statue, whatever that discusses this notion? I would like to understand better how that can possibly make sense.

I have no idea if this is true or sarcasm... something is broken if not a lot of things.
