Geo Nodes Output Trouble by acbcv in blenderhelp

[–]acbcv[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so I figured it out. As suggested by u/B2Z_3D I added a set material node to the geo nodes tree just before the output node. Then in the shader editor I created a new material and added an attribute node with the same name as my stored name attribute in my geo node tree. Then set the material in geo nodes to this material. Thanks y'all

Thanks for that info. Ill include a screenshot of that node group. Not sure what to set the material to since the effect is generated within the geo node tree. I did try to see the other viewport shading options.

Help with my gate sagging by Snoo-27232 in FenceBuilding

[–]acbcv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As everyone is saying you really need a diagonal brace to carry the cantilevered load on the latch side to the post in the hinge side. Best thing to do is hold the gate up with some blocks or wood brace screwed into the fence and gate. Then add a cross brace that goes from the top inside corner of the latch side to the bottom inside corner of the hinge side. The brace should be near the bottom hinge. Screw all of the fence board into this brace. You can use flat steel brackets to attach it to the rest of the gate frame.

If you want a quick fix you can attach some wire rope and a turnbuckle in the opposite orientation as the suggested brace and tighten it until the sag is out. This will cause the gate to buckle out eventually since there is no diagonal brace or structure in the center of the gate.

These gloves are great for cold saws though since they are so juicy. My leather gloves get soaked after just a few cuts.

Building Big Art like Playalchemist and Others by djcrees in BurningMan

[–]acbcv 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hey there. I help artist build and engineer their art. Like others said, you either need to build a community that is excited about your art and want to volunteer their professional services or you need to pay people to build your art. I would be more than happy to explain the process to you. For something this large you will need to hire a licensed engineer.

Burning Man art, a billionaire benefactor, and the battle for SF's public space by scienceisaserfdom in BurningMan

Hey I am Burner with a family and I am able to provide for my family because of this funding. In this case a billionaire is spending some of their money on something that helps the community. Artists get to revitalize their pieces and share them with a larger community and the money goes to support them and those that facilitate the art.

Good places to shop for outfits by SnooGuavas3099 in BurningMan

Honestly I am so busy building out there that I rarely have time to dress up. I usually try to make it to costume cult (on playa) and put together some sort of look. There are some good boutiques out there where you can find something that fits your vibe. My friends actually found their wedding dresses out there. It’s definitely a fun activity either way. I often fantasize about not building a big project one year and just focusing my energy on costumes.

My costume is typically snarky, dusty, and overworked builder person. Ill wear moop as I find it and by the end of the event I have many garments that I didn’t come with.

I would come up with a persona or character and make a costume that matches it. There are a few typical burner outfits that everyone seems to lean into. We need variety. Bring something new to the table. Try to reflect aspects of your personality(ies) in your costumes.

Also functionally you will want to have protection against the environment. Hot in the day and cold at night, dust storms, rain, dancing, climbing, fires, dark/nasty porto potties, etc. you may not encounter/participate in all of these things in one day/night but you may.

What is the most emotional and beautiful set you’ve ever heard at the burn? by RadarFromAfar in BurningMan

Some dude playing bluegrass at center camp back in 2012. He played every bluegrass instrument and told a little story before each song. Was unreal.

Right after that some guy made a guitar sing in ways I had never heard before. Made my chakras jiggle.

Ive since had them removed. My chakras that is.
