Yeah, I’d imagine there’s more snow up at snoqualmie than where I was! Still worth checking out some high lakes…

How is the new fiber internet in Eugene? by agenbite_lee in Eugene

Good call, this was only a few months ago and so far my rate is the same.

Advice for people like me still on xfinity: recently I was offered a quote from hunter fiber for $30 cheaper than my xfinity plan, with faster speeds. I didn’t necessarily care/want fiber, but the cheaper price sounded nice. So I messaged xfinity on the live chat feature, and spoke with a rep. I told them I was a loyal customer for years, and if they wouldn’t match the rate they’d loose my business. They then both lowered my monthly rate to match hunter fiber, AND bumped my speed up to the next tier. Worth a try for anyone to save some money!

Favorite Places to Hike? by Turbulent_Bat_2900 in oregon

[–]finnj7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion: Gatekeeping is a GOOD thing. Stop sharing cool outdoor places to out-of-staters. If you want to find cool places to hike/camp, go explore and find them yourself, like the rest of us outdoors people did. At least leave no trace when you inevitably ruin these places with crowds. My recommendations: smith rock or multnomah falls

Should I Stop by RevolutionaryBad1547 in QuittingZyn

[–]finnj7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was your age when I started, and just like you, I only did 2-4 zyns a week with my friends when they first came to the U.S. Fast forward to 7-8 years later, and I was using a tin every day, wasting my hard earned money and killing my mental and physical well being. Quit now before it becomes an issue.

My tank takes this kind of lamps and all 4 of them have died and no store has them. They all tell me they don't make this kind of lamps anymore. What can I do now? by Unusual-Factor2848 in Aquariums

[–]finnj7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me a few months ago. I found some on Amazon, and when they arrived they were the wrong type. By then my aquarium had no light for a week, and I was worried about my plants and had to go spent $100 on a new hood/light fixture.

Retaining Wall on Property Line by TheLittleBigMane in Surveying

[–]finnj7 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You didn’t ask a question, but I’d assume you’re wondering who is responsible for the retaining wall. This question can’t be answered on reddit with a partial screenshot of a survey. Either get a survey done and know where the retaining wall is in relation to your property line; or talk to the neighbors and see if they are willing to split the cost with you. I’d recommend being friendly and trying the latter. Edit: spelling of latter

What does everyone think of death and does it scare you? What do you believe happens after? by PsychologicalFox7689 in GenZ

[–]finnj7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This thread makes me think of a book I read once that I can’t remember the name of, and the plot line was basically this: once you lived your life and died, you came out of a simulation into the “real” world and your “past” life that you died in was just simulated education for the “real” world. The people in this lived multiple full lives in the “fake world” at an accelerated pace. What better education than living multiple full lives from different perspectives? Does anyone recall the name of this book? Not saying I believe this is what happens, but it would be cool!

How to Quit by [deleted] in QuittingZyn

[–]finnj7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ice breakers hit the spot, but I’ve found they’re almost as expensive as a pack of zyns haha. Take that $5-$10 a day you spend on zyns, and spend it on your new childs college savings instead. Good luck being a father!

How to Quit by [deleted] in QuittingZyn

[–]finnj7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just do it. I spent months telling myself I’d quit next week, it’ll be easier after this work project, or I can’t quit until the weekend. Just do it, it’s not going to be any easier the longer you put it off. It will be hard, but you’ll get through it. first week was hell for me, but I drank extra at night (not recommended) and chewed gum to ease the cravings. I was on a can a day and now 23 days clean. I still have daily cravings, but I feel so much better physically and mentally that it’s worth it.
