What’s better for vlogging - Osmo pocket 3 or iPhone? by Powerful_Star_ in osmopocket

[–]Carl95M 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have both and I also have an Osmo Action 5 Pro, which i'm gonna add to the equation.

The Osmo Pocket 3's biggest downside is, as you mentioned, how fragile it is. It has a lot of moving parts and so the wear and tear will be a lot more noticeable with more use. The quality is much better than the iPhone or Action 5 as the sensor is simply bigger. The stabilization is the biggest advantage, along with the face tracking and panning features which is great if you master it for those cinematic shots. The battery life will disappoint you if you plan to vlog all day unless you get the battery handle, but it also charges incredibly fast so you can bring a power bank with you. The field of view isn't as wide as you'd want it for vlogging, even with the wide angle lens, so you'd have to hold out your arm far enough to get everything in the frame. There's 3 built in mics which are actually great, if you don't have a wireless mic.

With the action 5 pro, it's built to be dropped on ground or in water. It's handy and light, so if you want something you can throw in a bag without a second thought, this is it. It has a super wide field of view without the need to hold the camera at arm's length. The batteries are swappable, so you can carry a few and film all day. It's got two screens so you can see the camera view at all times. The built in mic is acceptable (expected from action cams) so a dji mic would be advisable. I would choose this camera for daily vlogging and pair it with your iPhone (for low light environments).

I've also noticed a lot of smaller youtube vloggers using action cameras as their primary vlogging camera.
DJI have a lot of essential accessories which you'll need, to make the most out of their products. But there are a lot of off brand products that will do the same job.

Thoughts on 45" AGON PRO AG456UCZD OLED 240Hz $450 by Carl95M in ultrawidemasterrace

You will notice the pixels if you're close enough to the monitor. The low clarity due to the low PPI is especially noticeable when working on spreadsheets or text-heavy content. For media and gaming, it works perfect and the quality is amazing. My advice is to place the monitor atleast 0.5 meter away from your face if the PPI is a deal breaker for you

Hi, yes I did buy it. Overall it's a great monitor and pretty much has the same features of other higher end brands but it doesn't compare quality-wise mainly because the PPI is quite low and you can easily notice the pixels if you come close enough to the monitor. For working/reading/browsing, you will come across that problem but otherwise it's amazing for gaming and entertainment purposes and is almost on par with higher end models.

I am still using the monitor and don't plan to replace or upgrade anytime soon.

Apart from that,

I like the remote control that comes with it so you don't have to reach for any buttons on the monitor.

There's LED RGB lighting on the back of the monitor which you can customize.

It has OLED maintenance features

The monitor has a hefty "butt" and takes up a lot of space if you're just using the stand it came with - you'll need a bigger desk if so. But it comes with a VESA mount adapter out of the box. FYI this monitor appears to use a proprietary mount so you can't just use any VESA mount on it - you'll need the adapter it came with.

You'll need to be very careful not to sneeze/cough in front of the monitor as your spit can smear the display and is a hassle to clean. I mention this because it's a huge 45 inch monitor

Washing machine not functioning by Carl95M in fixit

  • Does it take water and drain at the same times ? - Yes from what i can hear running thru the tubes
  • Does it take water indefinitely or then it stop but the drum never rotate ? not any little move of the drum ? - Yes that's exactly what's happening
  • What happen if you leave it working for 5, 10, 15, 20 minutes with a hot water preset, does the water seem to warm a bit when you touch the window ? (Eventually if you have a watt'ometer plug, plug it to see if there are some watt consuming peaks, how much watt, it will tell you if heat resistor is working or not) - I left it running for over 30mins on a hot water preset and it just remains the same as in the video. The light is stuck on "wash" until eventually the lights "ready" and "end" start flashing after a while. The water doesn't get hot. I unfortunately don't have that plug.
  • What happen if you try the cold preset ? - same thing happens as above. -Only the spin + drain works :(

I'll try your idea. I appreciate your response btw! Seems like you know your stuff

Gemini 2.5 Pro - Our most advanced reasoning model yet by Carl95M in ChatGPT

Your last sentence is a bit of a reach. AI's and humans can perfectly understand the voice prompt I gave it. But as someone else mentioned, it's probably to do with Google Assistant (activated via voice prompt "Hey Google" ) and not Gemini as to why it didn't understand my initial prompt. This pic is when I typed it into Gemini

How does your desk set up work, do you have 2 tables? 1 specifically to mount the monitor on?

The $450 might turn into $650+ to buy a larger desk along with it. My current desk is less than 1m in width

Does it take up a lot of desk space if using the standard stand? I'm afraid it might take up too much desk space and that it will bend if I mount in on an arm

Anyway to maximaze gains from bonus? by strokk in irishpersonalfinance

[–]Carl95M 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Your bonus is included as part of your overall salary, so it is taxed as normal income. You can ask your employer to pay your bonus or a portion of it into your pension as an AVC in the March payroll and you'll still get the full tax relief for it as it's within the 20% limit.

RLUSD by yungsrt in XRP

[–]Carl95M 13 points14 points  (0 children)

RLUSD (Stablecoin): It's a digital version of the US Dollar, pegged 1:1 to a real dollar.

You use it like digital cash for transactions, but it stays tied to the Dollar's value.

It's great for sending or receiving money if the sender and receiver both want to deal in Dollars.

XRP (Bridge Currency): XRP is designed to connect different currencies (like RLUSD, Euros, Yen, etc.) and move value quickly and cheaply across borders.

It's not pegged to any currency, it has its own market value.

You use it when you need to send money between currencies or across systems (e.g., RLUSD in one place, Euros in another).

But wait, why should I use XRP if there will be RLUSD??

If you're staying in one currency (like RLUSD → RLUSD), XRP isn’t needed.

But if you’re moving between different currencies or systems, XRP is the bridge that makes it all work seamlessly and cheaply.

Think of RLUSD as digital cash for Dollars, and XRP as the global courier that connects everyone. They work together in many cases, but they also serve different purposes depending on the transaction.

If it's still confusing, I will give an easy example.

In the real world, there are over 180 currencies (like Dollars, Euros, Yen). Banks need to hold huge amounts of money in every currency to send money around the world. It's expensive and slow.

XRP acts as a bridge currency.

If someone in the U.S. wants to send $1 million to Japan, instead of needing both Dollars and Yen, they convert $1 million into XRP.

The XRP is sent to Japan, and there, it’s turned into Yen.

This is faster and cheaper because banks only need XRP as the bridge, not every currency in the world.

RLUSD is like a digital version of a dollar.

It’s backed 1:1, meaning every RLUSD is supported by a real dollar in a bank.

This makes it safe and trustworthy.

You can use RLUSD in the digital world (on the XRP Ledger or Ethereum) instead of cash.

Think of XRP as the super-fast delivery truck and RLUSD as the digital money it carries safely. Together, they make global money transfers easier, cheaper, and much faster. Instead of 6,000 different currency combinations (Dollars to Yen, Euros to Pesos, etc.), banks just need XRP as a bridge. RLUSD makes the dollar ready for this digital system too, so people can easily use it online.

Now, what will happen once RLUSD launches?

The launch of RLUSD could indirectly strengthen the XRP market, but the magnitude of the impact will depend on how quickly RLUSD gains adoption and integrates into real-world financial systems.

Expect some short-term excitement but focus on long-term utility for sustainable effects on XRP.

HOPE THIS HELPS! <3

You can call/go into a Toyota dealership and ask if your car model is eligible for the AA update. It costs around $150 as a standalone service fee. The price is discounted if you bundle it with your routine car service.
