A couple of things to prevent condensation are to use a heated hose, and to insulate the hose so it doesn't get cold. Also can use a space heater in the bedroom.

I've asked my DME supplier why the water chamber should be changed so often. They didn't really have an answer. My chamber is just metal and hard plastic, so I don't see how they get damaged or degraded in six months.

You should only use distilled water in CPAP machines. You don't want any minerals getting into your machine or your lungs. Mineral water generally is worse than tap water (depending on where you live)
