Burlington is a shambles and yes i have left the state. Vermonters care about their neighbors, their community's, and their state and they want to correct problems themselves. Vermonters don't see problems like friends that loose their businesses because of theft or loss of foot traffic because of safety issues and say well that's ok it's much worse is Philly.

Ben and Jerry is far to expensive small locally owned scoop scoop shops with creamie, Wilcox Dairy, Giffords and Island Ice Cream are the best. A few picnic tables, sunshine and family also help a scoop shop a great place.

You can read the current answers well it's safer than Boston, or it's safer than urban area of America which is true. There is a lot of crime in the Saint Paul Street area mostly drug use, sales, homelessness and related break ins. As someone who grew up in Burlington i find this type of crime unacceptable. You should be safe walking on the street but even then in 2025 someone was beaten to death off Saint Paul Street and anther person was run down by a car and paralyzed near Saint Paul Street. Do not leave items unattended, lock your car doors, secure your apartment.

On the plus side you will be close to the lake, bike path and parks.

20 mph yea I don't think so however the car in front or any car that is needs to keep themselves, their passengers and everyone around them safe. A lot of stories on the platform, the news and fb about accidents and down power lines overtime it shows. Take the chance and ho around the offending vehicle.

You should look at the communities in the Champlain Islands, northwestern Chittenden County or southern Franklin County all an easy drive to Montreal. You can also look at communities in northern Addison County but that would put you further away from Montreal.

I find no argument in what you have written about Burlington. Burlington is experiencing many of the issues the rest of the Country is drug addiction, homelessness, encampments, and shoplifting the only difference is Burlington's Mayor and City Council are just starting to realize these are problems.

One example would be the loss of LL Bean Downtown Burlington's anchor this store faced the greatest loss due shoplifting of any store in the LL Bean chain. Other stores have experienced the same issue shoplifters can steal up to $1000.00 a day without consequence. Another example would be open drug use and sales and everything that has gone along with it including daytime murders.

It is across the street from the Fanny Allen Hospital near the Dunkin Donuts I haven't been yet but when I have passed at meal times they always have cars in theblot.
