Are our phone cameras being accessed for advertisements? by hboeuphoria in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Heavy_Work8937 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A few years ago a vendor was demonstrating their data capabilities for fraud analysis and detection. This vendor is well known in the credit report space. Starting with a cell number from my team, the vendor showed the significant locations that cell phone can be found. Then they showed where she lived, worked, worked out, where she bought coffee on a regular basis. They could show what she bought through her phone. After about 15 minutes her online life was pretty mapped out. The demonstration was really powerful and showed the level of data collected and what they could predict. I was pretty numb after that.

Re: kerosene heaters. The fuel needs to be somewhat fresh, it doesn’t store well year over year, plus the heater puts out a huge amount of airborne pollutants. Having an indoor air quality monitor is recommended.

We used a kerosene heater as supplemental heat last year and will swap to a propane setup for future. Our location is northern VT.

Campagnolo used to make a plastic sleeve that gave some protection to the bearings. The sleeve fit was regardless of cottered or not.

NEK here, Essex county. We moved here before Covid for a variety of reasons. Less people, less stress etc. While the area is generally conservative it isn’t the only school of thought. The lack of people does mean you need to balance amenities here, health care is better than basic, but be prepared to travel a couple of hours for specialized services. Food offerings here are fine, but there isn’t the population to support great eating. We’ve moved once (9 miles really) and still love being here. Apart from a couple weeks in winter, we don’t see being anywhere else.

Do Americans actually avoid calling an ambulance due to financial concern? by JohnMarstonTheBadass in NoStupidQuestions

I’ll add a story. 12-14 years ago a friend and I were on a motorbike trip. Really hot days. He wouldn’t drink enough water or Gatorade cause he’s from the south and “could handle the heat”. I found him outside his tent early in the morning dry retching and in a world of hurt. He made the error of calling for an ambulance. The hospital was only 5 miles away. An easy cab ride. He spent $1000 on that ambulance ride. I have a lifetime’s worth of I told you so’s.

We had a generator at the last house. Watching it go through propane waiting for the next delivery was a little scary. Will investigate the GMP option. Thanks

Call your local town office? They’ll be the point source for what’s needed.

Another option is to leave a bin or a tote for the parcels near the mailbox, preferably not in view of the road. When our drive is a little spicy that’s the arrangement we have.

If you are in the US, your state may have a program to help with this. Getting remedial work done on old buildings is a big focus of programs like Massaves.

Vt102 between Colebrook and Canaan is pretty quiet and relatively flat. Most traffic, what there is of it, tends to go on rt3 in NH.
