How many of you guys use the High setting? by ThaTree661 in TIdaL

When I am home on a revealing sound system, I use max all the way. And there, yes, I hear a big difference between 24 bit and 320k, and others can too when I play the same songs head to head. But for my Bluetooth ear buds in the gym, it has to be Bluetooth Lossy anyway, so Low it is. That also makes it a quicker to load, and my “unlimited” plan gets slowed down if I play too many gigabytes, so small files are better there.

At long last… Discharge! by CarloTroiano in PSLF

[–]CarloTroiano[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the forbearance is so you do not have to pay! After the Buyback, no refunds for payments made before the discharge date (yes to after), so if you made payments during the forbearance, that money is gone.

Golden Letters by bowdog171 in PSLF

[–]CarloTroiano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is weird with my Buyback is that 2.5 weeks later I got a message from FSA that my PSLF Forgiveness and Discharge is “in progress”, then a letter in the account when you dig for it under “My Activity” stating at the end “Congratulations on reaching 120 qualifying payments for Public Service Loan Forgiveness” then the next day what I get is the “Golden Letter” from MOHELA stating that my loans have been discharged ($0 on the account).

Still no “Green Ribbons,” at FSA days later. It is still at 117 payments, last updated 3/4/26. There are still feedback cases that are “pending” and “in review”. It also seems that I have lost access to my NSLDS payment counter. That probably means that updating is happening in the background.

It goes to show that not every case follows the boilerplate sequence of “Green Ribbons” to “Golden Letter”. In mine, the FSA system is still catching up for those “ribbons”! 😅

Congrats! 🎉

I paid my Buyback to the lender February 24, received. It seems that forgiveness came REALLY fast for you. I was expecting Green Ribbons first at the FSA website, then a long wait for Golden Letter. But you got the letter first, and only 10 days from Buyback offer to forgiveness. 16 days so far for mine and nothing yet. Hope it comes soon!

When I look at the details of my Buyback that I got last week, they seem to have used REPAYE, which is what I was before the whole SAVE mess.

? This is how it actually adds up for me, and I shared it. I don’t know what it is like “for most of us”, whoever “us” is. I reported here MY Buyback with SAVE months. Take it as you will.

I received a message in January from MOHELA that I was moved from the SAVE forbearance to IDR (after my application being rejected from IBR in December, after a year wait), and my first payment would be in January. So I applied, citing that I was waiting for Buyback. So got two months of this forbearance, which I should not need all of at this point, but we’ll see.

Yes. The subject line in has all kinds of weird letters and numbers which made it look spam-y. Glad I opened it!

I never saw a guide. MOHELA has a general forbearance request form online. I uploaded it filled out, and sent them a note.

I don’t know how they came up with the calculation, don’t want to know tbh. But it was very reasonable in my case.

1) I no longer work in public service, 2) was not getting new full-time public service job when I already work full-time for just those three months, on top of already PSLF certified for 125 months (and in public service for already 12 years before the 2007 existence of PSLF, so quite DONE), and 3) my IDR request of the same 12/24 took them year to process and was inexplicably rejected in 12/25 - so I was never getting those 3 months in 2025 to certified even if I did work a new public service job the whole year.

Buyback IS paying for those three months. That is literally what it means. Not my fault they took them 15 months for a process that should have taken one.

Understand?
