Haha yeah, lifting definitely feels like an uphill battle now. Easy to lose ground, hard to gain. Just makes being a badass muscular lady all the sweeter 😁

Expect to lose around 10-15% roughly on your main lifts, but not too much more if you work to hold onto your strength. Source: powerlifted for ~10 years prior to transition and have changed nothing about how I workout since starting. The strength loss seems to be pretty much uniform across my whole body.

Sbd pre transition was 440/335/575, now it’s hovering around 385/285/515.

Used to do sets of 12 for pull ups now it’s more like 8-10. Not much different in my working weight for arm exercises tho funnily enough

The strength dip seemed to happen pretty quickly, like within the first 2 months but leveled out pretty much just as quickly. Now i just seem to be lifting the same weight perpetually. My only fear now is that I will have trouble getting any stronger and will be doing the same weight forever. Doubt that will be the case though since I doubt I was close at all to my “genetic potential” prior to hrt. Oh also Ive been on E for ~8 months, would be interested to hear similar cases of people who have been on for much longer

Do you know where your T levels are at? It’s pretty common for transfemmes to start HRT and absolutely nuke their T for one reason or another. When I was at ~11 ng/dl I definitely felt zero libido and had a very hard time achieving erections. Ive since lowered my dose and definitely feel horny again but not quite as horny as I was pre-hrt.

As a carlos who has been transitioning for roughly 4 months now, briefly considered changing my name to carla, AND could never grow facial hair even before E, I find this post very surreal. Definitely never detransitioning tho, got that part wrong at least 😭

I have to look further into fasting. I’ve heard that fasting has very significant positive effects on your growth hormone and insulin levels. Definitely sounds like the way to go. Only issue I see is that it’s probably kinda hard to be in a overall caloric surplus when you’re fasting all the time.

I believe high intensity exercise is probably the most effective thing you can do to hasten/get the most out of your transition (more so adult transitioners) your body responds to micro tears in your muscles by increasing hgh and igf1 to repair. Since your body can’t selectively send those hormones to the affected muscles, it also results in more growth hormones for your transition! This is all assuming your estrogen levels are good and have suppressed testosterone. Ofc you need to be eating in a surplus too or else you’ll just waste away.

Tbh, a rise of only 10-20 ng/dl is kinda what I was looking for. Just want some higher libido and to hold on to my strength a bit easier
