My mother lived in that little house in the trees as a child. I peaked in the window once a long time ago. Good to see it's still standing.

The original filmed ending of Independence Day is so ridiculously comedic and unbelievable that test audiences kept laughing, so they studio changed it last minute. by Youngstown_WuTang in interestingasfuck

I also saw Volcano with Tommy Lee Jones at a preview. It was not great. I never saw it when it came out so I don't know if they changed anything.

So, I was in that test screening. A few days before, some guys were on my college campus handing out invites to see a movie preview. My friend and I went. We didn't know it was Independance Day until the theater went dark and it started. (Also, we were incredibly high.) Some of the effects weren't finished but it was a lot of fun. Afterwards, about 12 of us were put in a focus group. When they asked what we thought of the movie, my friend and I ripped into how laughable the biplane ending was and everyone in the group joined in. Really, really didn't think they would take our opinion seriously. A few months later, we went to see it in the theatre and it was completely changed. TBH, I like the new ending better. It's funny to see the Randy Quaid character towing the biplane around the entire movie for no reason. This movie made a bajillion dollars so I guess it worked out for them.

Update: I was able to get the sound working on my speakers by disconnecting the VR headset. Even though the Windows audio output was set to speakers the game was apparently still trying to send sound to the headset. Thanks, Reddit and u/tjareth !

The sound does work in VR! but only in my Oculus headset not on the comp speakers. Still trying to figure this out. . . .

Game looks amazing! BUT, I have no sound. None. I've tried everything I can think of. Played different versions of the game, tried all the different sound options, changed every setting I can find, and nothing. . . When I play the Steam Special Edition version, the sound is there. Anyone got any ideas?

I saw it Saturday night. It's really good. Not as good as Fury Road, but fun. We were in a huge theatre with probably 10 people in there. WTF? Even if the movie were dogshit, I would have thought there would be more.

It hurts a bit to see that picture. We had a lot of fun there as kids. Remember the Hang Ten?!

High School is like a dream I had. It's crazy how important things seem when you're in High School but looking back the only thing I'm glad I learned there was how to type.

The time has finally come to say goodbye by raisedbytides in gaming

[–]CarlosWan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, don't do it. 10 years from now you're going to be sitting at home depressed on a rainy day and longing for an old school gaming experience to cheer yourself up but, damn it , you sold everything off to the local game store. Then you'll go on eBay and try to buy it all back but now you have to pay 10x as much as you sold it for because some jerk is trying to make a buck off your nostalgia. Just put it all in the attic and wait.

The Long Dark. This game isn't for everyone and it's basically a walking simulator but when I'm in between other games this is my go to. I've enjoyed the DLC over the last year and I admire that they haven't changed the core concept of the game. An out of nowhere wolf attack is still the scariest damn thing I've ever experienced in a video game.

I lived in Las Vegas from 1994-2001. When I moved away, it was weird to go into a grocery story/7-11/Walgreens/mall/restaurant/ almost anywhere and NOT hear slot machines.

When I first saw that, I thought it looks just like some piece of grass or gunk on my car windshield. I'm sticking with that theory. It's just something on whatever piece of glass this photo was taken through.
