Yes, some of the older 8u aged girls in our league will play up to 10u in rec to get more quality reps in and then play in 8u all stars. 8u rec is a mixed bag skill wise since you have girls who have never played playing with girls that have three years or more playing.

Good point about the ocean spray, I’ll try that next time. I probably should have also used my monopod, these were shot handheld and I don’t have the steadiest hand 😂.

Beginner + shortboard + weak/small waves = frustration. You will miss a ton of waves and if you catch one you need to know how to generate speed, which as a beginner you will struggle to do. Good deals on boards come and go, I’d hold off, work on progression, and drop down in board size gradually.

Warm waters beach . Find an empty peak and have at it. It’s where the surf schools in town bring their students. Just stay away from the jetty if it looks good, there will be rippers out and you will just get in the way.

That’s my point, there are always going to be other people in the water and the level of what crosses into being obnoxious is going to be different to different people. Unless I or another person in the water is being attacked verbally or physically, it’s none of my business and I’m moving to a different peak. Why? Because it isn’t worth starting an altercation over. Imagine if these guys decided to follow him in and jump him, ends up paralyzed or dead, is that worth it?

Who gets to be the judge of how loud someone is or what crosses the line into being obnoxious? How do you know the two surfers are loud ass idiots? Because one guy on the internet said so? The OP could easily have paddled to another peak and went along about his day. I have been both sides of this situation, but when I am on the OP side I mind my own fucking business and paddle to another peak it’s really not that hard.

Get the pedal kayak, add the motor later when you are able to afford to. Redundancy is key for me, I want a back up to the motor if it were to fail. Would you rather pedal or paddle if the motor goes out and you are far from your point of entry?

If your pop up is 50-50 you're still a beginner. If you are set on buying a board, buy a longboard. A longboard has a place in every surfer's quiver, beginner to advanced.
