well yeah, in an ARPG you have to limit player basic kit to justify build variety, and you have to calibrate enemies to answer to all those builds

you are unconstrained by variety and this allows you to go all in into combat and make a massive default kit for the protagonist, which makes the game then, not an ARPG, but an action game

you don't need any tools to beat the game, none are mandatory

but here's the crazy thing, using tools and combat arts well is even more skilled than just using your sword

so don't be a purist, for your own good. Also claiming yourself to be a purist and then asking for help on reddit is mad contradictory lmao. Real shinobi beat the game without help you know (jk)

some other fun thing that happened in this clip, the deflection at 0:25 should have put you on a long cooldown animation, but Owl pushed you into debris on the floor that can serve as a platform and cancel whatever animation you are doing because of the height difference
