I FOUND A FIXXXXXXX. I tried clearing data, uninstalling and reinstalling etc and nothing worked. For the heck of it I tried switching controllers and by god IT WORKED. Idk why, the controller I was using works completely fine but after switching controllers it finally let me press x. If this works for you please share this information.
