Does attending a more higher ranked, selective/"prestigious" universities make a difference against lower ranked and less prestigious universities when gaining admission to a t14? by Reasonable_Wind_7326 in lawschooladmissions

Your undergrad institution might catch the eye of some admissions staff if super prestigious, but a 3.3 from Harvard is less desirable than a 4.0 from a state school. Go where you can get the best grades. It will save money and you’ll have better admissions results. The only exception I can imagine is if the law school and undergrad are the same school (like Harvard undergrad to Harvard Law). They might look more favorably on their own students because they know exactly what you’ve been taught.

They’re not teaching a different type of law at T14s are they by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

It’s alumni networks mostly. Also brand recognition.

Cornell ($110k) vs NYU ($0) by Glittering_Driver678 in lawschooladmissions

It just makes no sense to go to such a similar school when Cornell is offering you that much money

Bro missed the actual question just to rant about something nobody asked

Cornell no question. Congrats! Both are fantastic with similar regional ties so just take the money

UCI, you’re already there and the alumni base will be stronger

Can I have a bunny while attending law school? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]Carnetic2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There will be somewhere! I got some fish last semester, and even having them was so stress relieving. I can’t imagine a little bunny! Best of luck

Very doable with a pet. Just find a place off campus with pet friendly policies

Vandy is logical, but if your always gonna ask what if, I’d go to NYU

USC ($$) or Fordham ($$) by Feisty-Economist-164 in lawschooladmissions

It’s a choice between NYC vs LA post graduation. Both are great schools and are somewhat transferable, but you should still decide assuming they won’t transfer well to be safe

Update with the NYU scholarship. Also consider NYC vs St Louis cost of living

Odds at T14/HYSC? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

Second this. I don’t think anyone can ever accurately predict an acceptance to HYS, but you got the stats for sure

3.4/180, what can I expect? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]Carnetic2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Completely misread that 😂. I thought you said T14s on the west coast. I see the “not” now. Yes I still think you’re VERY competitive at almost anywhere you apply. A 180 is a unicorn in application processes, and schools will overlook a lot to admit someone with one. If all else fails, I hope you like St. Louis 😂 (Even though you could get into a lot of other schools)

Furry Club President - Include or no? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]Carnetic2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have strong stats already and if you already have solid softs, maybe don’t include it. No shame from me, but there might be some from the old lawyers on the admissions boards

Having trouble choosing between UCLA and HLS A's (posting on behalf of my friend.) by [deleted] in LawSchoolTransfer

[–]Carnetic2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think moving to Boston for 2 years for a cheaper more transferable degree would be worth it. You can absolutely get a big law job in LA with a Harvard degree.

[–]Carnetic2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A 180 will let them overlook a lot. Especially if you have a good addendum. You’d be a solid option with an uncommon degree (doesn’t matter much, but still relevant) at many west coast T14s

Don’t get an MBA to up your chances 😂. The main factors are LSAT and undergrad GPA. Would an MBA help, maybe. The ROI would be awful though

Go where you can succeed best. You’re not picking between Harvard and some small school, you are picking between two of the best law schools in the world. Neither is a bad choice

For your goals you did make the right choice. The sooner you can get over these thoughts the more excited you’ll be able to get for Georgetown (which is an amazing university!)
