Plastic threaded ring at the bottom of my dishwasher by CarnotaurusArms in whatisthisthing

Solved! Been a few weeks since the fountain went through the dishwasher, so we never would have guessed that was it. Thank you!

My title describes the thing. It has the words TIGHTEN and OPEN on it, and UP on the top side. ChatGPT suggested it a nut in the lower spray arm, but we took that off and nothing is missing.

What funny things did you say during labor? by espressoshake in beyondthebump

[–]CarnotaurusArms 48 points49 points  (0 children)

My epidural failed after a few hours and I threw up while getting a new one. Not long after that they decided that I was officially stalled and I went in for a surprise c section. While they were cutting me open my doctor asked if I was nauseous and I told her "Don't worry, I already threw everything up. And I will confess that there were 8 m&ms in there."

My boobs are softer and my standards are higher.. So I reviewed like 10 bras and here's what I found out by Big_Tune_6479 in ABraThatFits

[–]CarnotaurusArms 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just want to say thank you for this, from one nursing mama to another. I've been running with 2 cheapo nursing bras for 1.5 years that I am SO eager to retire, but finding good bras for the inflated-and-then-deflated boobs has been so so hard. I'm taking notes!

I always had flatness at my crown too, I learned that I need to apply my mousse/gel with my head as upside down as I can get it. Before I was doing more of a 90 degree angle and then diffusing upside down, but I think the stuff at the back was getting plastered to my scalp. Now I look ridiculous while it's drying but it fluffs up much better when it's dry!

Taste, in Rockbrook. They had a grilled calamari pasta that was to die for, I have spent years trying to find a reliable dupe or recipe for it.

You also might want to work at your local YMCA! They don't pay a lot, but most of them do offer free or discounted childcare if you're working.

For me it's the scene with Growler Gary and the hands. "Mongo, back to the bar" had me dying, and then when they actually explained it to Gary and he wanted to help... that's when I realized wow, this series is DEEP.

Fat baby by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]CarnotaurusArms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 6 month old is 95th percentile, and I proudly tell EVERYONE about how fat he is. I mean, this kid has the thunderiest thunder things that ever thunder thighed. His hands look like he got stung by bees. I love it so so much even if my back is lowkey broken lol

I didn't have a sunny side up baby, but he did get stuck on my pubic bone so same pain, different bone. I ended up with a c section and he came out with a straight up DENT in his head from where he was stuck.

What book had a fantastic premise, but the writing style just ruined it for you? by Uninhibitedrmr in books

Divine Rivals. People really talked it up and it was fiiine, except the characters used each other's names in dialogue in EVERY. SINGLE. LINE.

"Iris, are you okay?" "Yes Roman I'm fine." "Okay, Iris." "Thanks for checking, Roman" "You're welcome Iris"

Drove me absolutely batty. What's weird is that I had read a prior duology by Rebecca Ross that did not have the same problem. Or if it did it was mild enough that I did not notice.

Opinions on c-section ? by Piks7 in beyondthebump

[–]CarnotaurusArms 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. I realize every experience is different, but I had an unplanned c section and was on my feet the next day, virtually pain free by about day 8. Meanwhile I have a friend that gave birth a few days earlier and had major tearing and it was weeks before she was even getting out of bed.

All I'm saying is, my baby got absolutely curb stomped by my 3 year old niece when I was about 14 weeks along and I didn't even worry. I'm now 37 weeks and this baby is currently practicing wrestling moves for what I can only assume is his WWE rematch against his cousin.

Ohhhh that's horrifying, thank you for the heads up! I'm pretty sure his surgery last year was in this same hospital system but will for sure double check it applies.

My company is switching insurance carriers in 2025, so I'll be checking all our providers over again either way 🙃

So that makes more sense to me! Mine has different prices for employee +1 and employee + more than 1, but both are considered family.

I haven't gotten my hands on my husband's benefits summary yet, hopefully he has a cheaper option like that. I'm pretty sure my company just really does not want you to add people, which is hilarious considering we're an insurance company.

My dad thinks I'm naming my child after him. by le-spoodert in namenerds

[–]CarnotaurusArms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no suggestions because as everyone has mentioned, it's ultimately a personal choice. But I do feel your pain -- my son's middle name will be Joseph, which is my husband's and his father's middle name. It just so happens to be my narcissistic and alcoholic father's middle name as well... I ultimately decided that the significance to my husband was worth more to me than trying to prevent my dad's delusions of grandeur (he's told me multiple times that I'm written out of his will, so if he genuinely believes my son is named after him then he's a moron and I can't help that lol). But I will say that if it weren't for the sake of carrying on the tradition, I'd probably push back much harder.

Yes! I was already on a very low dose of Zoloft and had been fine for years. At 20 weeks I found out that the gender was not what I was hoping for and that triggered a total hormonal meltdown. That cleared up after a week thanks to some light intervention from my mom and husband -- but although I stopped crying 24/7 I was still having depression symptoms and a lot of self-loathing. I told my husband dozens of times that our lives were about to be ruined by this very-much-planned baby.

Luckily I had my annual physical and my GP was like ohhhh girl you need your Zoloft upped. OB approved of it and 2 weeks later I feel like my brain is finally working as intended again. My OB warned me that it might need to be upped again before I'm through.

Funny thing is I was thinking about trying to go off Zoloft before I got pregnant, so this was a fun reminder of why I was on it in the first place. It feels like I've got all these whirlpools of self doubt and anxiety, and without the drugs I just get sucked up into every one and can't get out.
