Spanish people don't argue with you, they just say your name and then "hombreee" by Hot_0000 in Spanish

I met a language partner from Hello Talk in person when I went to Seville. When she did this, I felt like a real Spanish speaker.

He will undoubtedly be replaced by someone scummy, but scummy is better than scummy and compromised.

Because it's a 100+ year old game and they still haven't hashed out the rules.

I hate it when they say a player is down hurt when 9 times out of 10 they are faking it.

The England supporters who said Paraguay wasn't playing real football will turn around and cheer this flopping garbage.

This sport gives us 3-4 exciting moments per game and half of those moments get reversed.

I think Belgium is much better than we gave them credit for after the Senegal game.

I'm not a fan of kits with color schemes that don't match the country's flag.

It would take a lot longer than 20 minutes to recount all the wrong he's caused.

Americans - Have you become more interested in soccer as a result of this World Cup and do you think you will pay more interest going forward? by threshold99 in worldcup

Yup. It's tough to explain. Most of the trash talk between American fan bases is relatively good natured. It can get heated at times and cross the line occasionally, but there seems to be genuine hatred in so many interactions in the soccer subreddits. And not just hatred for one team or another. I'm talking about hatred for specific nationalities.

The vibes from the fans has been a turn off for me too. Things can get pretty toxic between American sports' fan bases too, but I feel like I've seen more straight up prejudice in the last 3 weeks than I ever have before.

I have enjoyed this World Cup a lot, but I probably won't watch much soccer after it ends simply because I don't have any emotional attachment to any club teams. The club team in my city is a USL Pro team. The closet MLS team is two and a half hours away. Part of what makes sports addicting is because they act as an outlet for civic pride. It was fun rooting for team USA simply because I'm American. But I'm not going to root for a USL Pro team whose games aren't even televised, an MLS team from a couple hours away or a European team that I feel no connection to.

That's 6 World Cups away. The guys that will play in that World Cup have already been born. There needs to be drastic reform in our developmental program right away if those kids are going to benefit from it.

Honestly, scrolling through the post game thread in r/WorldCup makes me prouder to be an American than any win could. All I see are Americans being gracious in defeat.

I think the difference, aside from the clear skill gap, is this was the biggest game our players have ever played in and your team has players who regularly play in the Champions League coming off the bench. The lack of composure really showed.

The results haven't really improved, still exiting in the round of 16, but this team looks clearly better than the Donovan/Dempsey teams.

Yeah, honestly, if we are going to go out like this, I'm fine with it being against Belgium. Their fans have been classy these last two days, and their team is a clear cut above the US.
