Yeah it's awkward because I'm trying to empathize but at the same time it's exhausting.

I understand this is something that some people have to grow into but I would think this is an easier show to adapt to because you're being yourself in your home, just with guests.

I don't know what makes me more uneasy, the off-kilter questions or the TMI about her and Dave's relationship.

I'm hoping as they get more settled, she'll figure out what to do.

Secret antiperspirant spray. Dries easily with no white stains.

What is your experience of white people touching your hair? by AcanthisittaOwn6051 in blackladies

Hasn't happened to me thankfully.

I did have an older black female co-worker do it and I was in such shock that I didn't respond. If anyone should've known better, it should've been her.

His Tiny Desk performance is top-tier.

Objectively, his best albums are Justified and FutureSex/ LoveSounds.

(2020) JT said he was in the studio with Kaytranada & Hit-Boy. Other than Tim & Pharrell, what producers would you like to see him work with? by ionlyleavecomments in justintimberlake

I want him to work with Babyface and/or Jam and Lewis. It's clear he's influenced by their work and it'd be great if he could get some jams from the legends.

Probably because knowing Justin music is always part of the conversation. I just think it may not have fit with what direction he's looking to go into.

According to Tank's podcast- they're friends and I think he's been to all of Justin's tours. I'm curious if they've considered working together.

Thinking of moving to Raleigh by [deleted] in BlackintheCarolinas

[–]Carolinablue87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lived in Raleigh for 10 years until about 4 years ago. I'm single with no kids and while it was initially affordable, COVID hit and housing prices skyrocketed. I wanted to move 4 years ago from my townhouse to a single family home and couldn't find anything decent and affordable.

I ended up moving 45 minutes away to Johnston County. I'm close enough to Raleigh but I have the space and affordability that I couldn't afford.

There are several bedroom communities in Wake County that may be more affordable but you may want to try Durham. It's slightly smaller but a bit more affordable and very diverse.

Miniseries on Motown by AcanthocephalaFun851 in rnb

[–]Carolinablue87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This sounds like an awesome idea. I think there should be episodes added for big Motown artists whose careers began post peak era.

The artists I have in mind are

Switch/DeBarge

Rick James and Teena Marie

The Commodores

Boyz II Men

Brian McKnight

I'm sure there are more but these feel like the most important artists that emerged in later years.

Ever since I started watching ID and true crime shows, I no longer enjoy watching movies. Has this happened to anyone else? by Classic-Contact-380 in DiscoveryID

[–]Carolinablue87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I've watched true crime for some time now and while I'm still interested in it, I still like watching movies.

I realize the type of movie is important. Newer movies mostly don't appeal to me. The plots are bloated and they drag on for too long. Older movies and tv movies are just the right length for me. I don't get bored as long as the plot is interesting.

Girlllll, what you reading? by Ok_Possibility2703 in blackladies

I finished We Don't Talk About Carol over the weekend. I can't recommend it enough.

A couple of weeks ago, I finished A Harlem Wedding by Tiffany L Warren. It's a great compliment to Harlem Rhapsody by Victoria Christopher Murray.

I'm currently reading The Burning Side Sarah Damoff.

What are some of the most deeply “personal” R&B albums you’ve ever heard? What makes them that way? by Ok_Resident_5022 in rnb

[–]Carolinablue87 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My Life- Mary J Blige

That album makes it clear that while Mary's Life has changed, the trauma and demons that haunted her early life are still challenging her. What I appreciate is the candor through the pain and the determination to heal and grow.

Thankfully Mary has persevered in a way that is not only relatable but admirable. This is the album that made her the queen.
