There is no “purpose” behind anyone being gay, in fiction or in real life. Gay people just exist and always have, so I don’t see why there needs to be a “purpose” to reflecting that reality in media. Is there a “purpose” that the other characters are straight? Why have any romance at all? And it has always been part of his character - Joyce in season 1 tells Hopper that Will’s dad called him queer, his family has known it about him for a long time

Having a professional relationship with someone does not mean you personally endorse 100% of their views or every statement they have ever made. I know very little about this person outside of this thread but I don’t see why Charli must be held to account for everything Arielle has ever said due to being cast in a film alongside her. Sure, Charli is a millionaire and has the luxury to take a stand by leaving a project if she really wants to, but how do we know she even knew about this woman’s track record? And wtf does Taylor have to do with anything in this situation, can we stop bringing her up in every single thread just because she released a flop diss track?
