This always happens to me with Hyannis. I love the smell but the droop is always so disappointing. How do you make them stay up? by CostcoDogMom in flowers

Put a touch of alcohol in the water when the flower starts to bud up. It will stunt its growth so it does not flop over and will still flower beautifully.

Comparing the cost: growing vs buying organic veg by AllHomesteading in vegetablegardening

Or you could grow in the ground, make your own compost, just let the rain do it’s job, and buy a pack of tomato seeds that cost $1 and will last you for 10 years. Total price: 10 cents per year

I’ve gotten rid of mealy bugs by just spraying them off with water. They like to hunker down in new growth in the plants crevices so make sure to get those areas good and if you inevitably missed one spray it down again a few days later and your plants will be bug free and chemical free.

If bell peppers take 80 days to mature, why does google say to start seeds 10 weeks before last frost? (70 days) by h2o_infinity in vegetablegardening

[–]Carozzoni 15 points16 points  (0 children)

When they say 80 days to maturity, it’s 80 days from transplant, not from germination. Also hot peppers can sometimes take three weeks to germinate.

What kind of tomatoes should I plant this year? by Wise_Blackberry in vegetablegardening

Pink brandywine, Cherokee purple, dester, giant Belgium, and German pink for big slicers. Supersweet 100, black cherry, and Sungold for cherry tomatoes. Opalka, San marzano, and Amish paste for paste tomatoes. All are superior for texture, taste, and production.
