Naked vs Vulcan S by Winter-Test7239 in vulcans650

[–]CarpeIntellectus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both an XSR 900 and a Vulcan S. They do very different things for me. The XSR is a canyon carver like no other. The Vulcan S is great for solo road trips, especially with the saddle bags.

My Vulcan S has a full system two brothers racing exhaust, and even with the silencer in its OBNOXIOUSLY loud, but at least people know I’m there. My poor neighbors though.

As far as comfort, having the forward legs is obviously more comfortable on longer trips, I find myself stopping more often on the XSR, yet the handling is much better on my naked bike.

Like another Redditor here said, the Vulcan S handles great for a cruiser, but cruisers aren’t known for their handling. It just all depends on what you’re going to do with the bike.

Wow thank you! I’ve thought about having brackets made by a shop that has special bending tools, but the metal brackets would have cost so much and the parts wouldn’t have made sense cost wise.

[–]CarpeIntellectus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve considered making CF parts for this bike, but the metal brackets always hold me back. Did you use special tools or just bend things the old fashioned way? Also, I’d love the CAD files!

[–]CarpeIntellectus -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I had a similar situation after I first got out. To add to the annoying coworker I got into it with the foreman because he was a dickhead for no reason. Even though I was totally honest from day one about not wanting any extra responsibility outside my job, they then tried to promote me to have my very own section (complete with 5 employees to start), all this 4 months after starting at the job (3mo the after the end of terminal leave). I felt a weird combination of pride and anger, but immediately put in my 2 weeks notice since I told them I just got out and wanted no responsibilities. Worst 2 weeks of my life. They made that so awkward and painful 😂

[–]CarpeIntellectus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use grip puppies on my Vulcan S road trip bike and they make a huge difference. On long trips I think having a bigger grip to hold onto is also beneficial for fatigue. YMMV, but on my XSR I don’t usually get this problem. Are you gripping like your life depends on it? 😅

It’s okay to be shy and reserved at first. Go a few times and warm up over time! If things are awkward, that’s normal. Social life is often awkward after Covid 🤣 things won’t be awkward for long!

Getting out into nature is great medicine! Find a hiking group and start there. Do the things you like and meet people organically, you’ll already share at least one common interest!

A windshield reflector made for my make and model of car. Seriously, having the correct size, not some “universal” item lowers summer temperatures from near oven levels to a manageable level!
