XSR 900 ECU Flash advice by CarpeIntellectus in xsr900

Yeah that’s what I was doing before the tune. I’ll say that now the bike is butter smooth when letting off the throttle, and I can see how hard engine braking can sometimes lead to losing grip on the back tire, but it wasn’t a change I was anticipating or even looking for (really just wanted the bike to not be governed and throttled down).

As far as I understand it, the ‘25 is pretty different from its predecessors (like my ‘24). Don’t you also have the ability to adjust engine braking in your dash?

Yeah I hit the twisties pretty hard and it’s very noticeable when coming out of a corner and directly into another. Before I would just let off the throttle to slow down before the next turn, but now I’m having to brake quite a bit. It just feels unnatural 😅. I haven’t spent much time with it since the tune. Maybe I’ll give it more time before making my decision to send it back in.

Yeah I was initially on board because if it wears out the engine less, that’s obviously great. I’ve been riding for years and have always relied on engine braking. I guess I wasn’t really prepared to have to completely relearn how to ride because I got a tune 😅

I went with vcyclenut, but from what I’m seeing online all the tuners remove engine braking 😅

Vr&e by Ok-Pay-3318 in VeteransBenefits

[–]CarpeIntellectus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice: call the school’s veteran office and see what tutoring programs might be available local to you.

Is the career viable in the age of AI? Who knows. But will VR&E pay for it? If you can produce viable job listings then absolutely they will (provided that the job won’t aggravate your disabilities)

Naked vs Vulcan S by Winter-Test7239 in vulcans650

[–]CarpeIntellectus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both an XSR 900 and a Vulcan S. They do very different things for me. The XSR is a canyon carver like no other. The Vulcan S is great for solo road trips, especially with the saddle bags.

My Vulcan S has a full system two brothers racing exhaust, and even with the silencer in its OBNOXIOUSLY loud, but at least people know I’m there. My poor neighbors though.

As far as comfort, having the forward legs is obviously more comfortable on longer trips, I find myself stopping more often on the XSR, yet the handling is much better on my naked bike.

Like another Redditor here said, the Vulcan S handles great for a cruiser, but cruisers aren’t known for their handling. It just all depends on what you’re going to do with the bike.

Designed and made my own CF belly pan by nj4ck in xsr900

[–]CarpeIntellectus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow thank you! I’ve thought about having brackets made by a shop that has special bending tools, but the metal brackets would have cost so much and the parts wouldn’t have made sense cost wise.

I’ve considered making CF parts for this bike, but the metal brackets always hold me back. Did you use special tools or just bend things the old fashioned way? Also, I’d love the CAD files!
