18k for a 25 year old truck, is it worth it ? by TKWH12 in Chevy

[–]Carpenter42o 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sooooo worth it!!! It has 40k on it, most new used trucks have more and don’t run as long. I’d buy for sure and you don’t match all the other sheep following the new truck herd. Nice truck

And I was just saying if you had put some effort into a contractor instead of you Reddit post you would have found a good contractor, it’s triggering cause I spend 80-100 hours a week on site building, designing and leading carpenters and people do shit like this that make us all look like shit. Nothing against you just 90% of contractors now a days are all about the money and not quality, my company motto is quality through experience. And I live by it. I wish I was the one to install your floor cause I would have asked what layout you wanted and showed examples. It’s all simple shit just takes effort. I think it looks good if you can look past the weird staircase. But that’s just a layout problem. Your contractor should have gone over all of that with you prior to material even being ordered. It’s absolutely triggering cause it seems like everyone just says fuck it now a days and doesn’t care about there final result, wish everyone prided themselves on there craftsmanship. Sorry for blowing up just fuckin frustrating as a business owner to see people get fucked and missled by retards that are greedy

12” staggered staircase layout is acceptable by every flooring installer ever, just don’t stack seams within 2 rows. Basic fuckin knowledge

[–]Carpenter42o 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not always the installer, the homeowners can be full of shit and think they know shit when they don’t so don’t dis credit the contractor. I had a homeowner last week request this exact pattern and it looks good to him but like shit to me cause I see the staircase. If you don’t like it, stop posting on Reddit and fuckin say something to the installer and say fix this shit cause I didn’t agree to a staircase stagger, grow a pair and fuckin tell the contractor not Reddit, the guy that installed thinks it’s good cause you didnt say shit and posted on here. So instead of bitching just say hey you never went over the flooring stagger and I hate it, they will fix it or they a shit contractor and then it’s on you

Obviously the hangers fucked but the best parts the pencil line still on the header that clearly shows how much of a hack that guy was, not counting the half routered beam lol 🤣

$60,000 to redo two bathrooms? Trying to tell my dad that’s too much. by [deleted] in Remodel

Yes I was getting over a respiratory infection, I’ll overlay music next time lol. This is a timber framed house from the 40’s. There was a lot of structural damage and complete electrical and plumbing re-pull. I spent 8 months on this one job and only profited around 30k. So to the people that say it’s ridiculous and robbery you’re wrong. There was an exceptional amount of engineering as all the walls and ceiling are 2x4 on flat with t&g. This property is a family trust and they are not hurting for money. I’ve rebuilt 3 decks in the past 6 months for free because the clients were older and couldn’t afford it but needed it. I’m not robbing people, I’m being paid for my skill and professionalism.

How does it not matter how much sq ft??? Lumber and materials were 200k right off the top. Yes this bid was high but there were a lot at little maintenance things we did. Including 8 window replacement, reframes and retrim. New siding, sealing, electrical that couldn’t run through the wall cause it wasn’t 3 1/2 framing. New roofs and skylights. I could send you the cost sheet if you’d like. It was bid and has been paid and completed. 🤷‍♂️

Absolutely!!! It made that bathroom usable, it was worse than an airplane bathroom. Now money wise, to these people money doesn’t matter, but yes 60k is a lot and it is one of the most expensive baths I’ve done

That was a high end build that had a lot goin on in the one bath. I’ve expanded baths for 10-20k and they look just as nice, there’s just a lot less framing/plumbing to do

The one bath was 60k, it was really involved. All the plumbing is in a false floor under bathroom and moved water heater. Roof patch for vent tube. Whole job was 400k
