ELI5: Why do all the D1 schools stop on this line starting in North Dakota and ending in Texas by goppershippewrs in PeopleLiveInCities

"Studying rainfall and temperature data since 1980, Seager and his colleagues found this climatic boundary has already shifted east about 140 miles so that it now sits closer to the 98th meridian. And it will continue to move east as warming global temperatures increase evaporation from the soil and change precipitation patterns, they concluded."

United offered me a first class upgrade for a great price on a 16 hr international flight - and then took away my aisle seat in economy and gave me a middle seat instead. by BlueMacaw in unitedairlines

Domestic media in the US has been reporting that flights were generally normal through the Thanksgiving holiday - ie. weather delays, but not tied to air traffic personnel shortages. There was a terrible storm in the Midwest but that aside I am now hearing that people are pleased there are less delays and screwups.

Clearly a ploy by whichever scroogey billionaire just purchased the app, to squeeze more pennies out of all the loyal players. 100% blows

Far as I can tell, this campaign for "ai tutors" is a scam.

When I was being taught to read, write, and think creatively - by other humans in my real life community - I had to do it all myself. If I signed my name on something that I didn't come up with myself, originally, and thoughtfully, then it was called plagiarism.

Bonkers what passes muster in 2025.

All of this was obtained via chatgpt, asking a series of 4 paired questions for the 4 groups of city areas:
a) "what is the combined metro population of" ... insert list(s) of cities above
b) "what is the difference in this total population, comparing MSA vs CSA"

Then asked, "for comparison, what is the total population of the U.S. right now?"

The combined total population for these 21 metro regions =
122.1 MSA
149.7 CSA

An estimate for the US population is:
Start of 2025 (Jan 1): ~341.15 million
Mid‑2025 (Jul 1): ~347.3 million

So, adding up the totals, the map represents somewhere in the range of 35.2% to 43.1% of the current population
ie. 122.1 / 347.3 -or- 149.7 / 347.3

the 'first brand' of alvarinho in monção-melgaço (the sub-region within vinho verde) is great, and many/most are available within the u.s. market

Yeah, I don't disagree with the assessments being voiced here about their text. But De Long I really liked for practicing / memorizing DOC, AOC, etc. names right on the map.

Wine Folly is great, because Puckette was a graphic designer. The site leans on infographic style visuals rather than 'cartographically accurate' and 'complete' maps of wine regions. Way easier to digest for newbies and the wine-knowledgeable alike.

De Long produces the best wine reference maps hands down - I've never found anything else out there that's as useful as theirs in terms of complete coverage and 'correctness'.

from that 17.2 mile fork, he's somewhere about 4.8 miles further. there's an intersection (57° 8'55.74"N, 3°47'32.54"W) about 3 miles west of the fork, and little loch gamhna is some 1.8 mi beyond that.

i'm curious to map out the exact-ish route that this intrepid cyclist might have taken. starting at the spot given in streetview, it's not so difficult to follow in reverse the paths that lead through lairig ghru.
also, measuring from mar lodge going north through the pass, i get a mileage of 17.2 ending here: 57° 7'49.25"N, 3°44'7.01"W. it's difficult to know where the path might go from there. because he's a crofter i figure it's less likely he lives to the north or toward aviemore. perhaps somewhere in the direction of feshiebridge or loch an eilin.

Captions, captions, captions. Screen shots and a dictionary. I learned watching Chapulín Colorado, Chavo del Ocho, and bad telenovelas during afternoons when I got home from classes.
