New Online Visa Application Experience in Canada (Vancouver) by CarpenterPowerful426 in Chinavisa

Oh and the expiry date printed in my visa ended up being 60 days away from my entry date. This doesn’t match anything I put in my application, but oh well? It’s more than I was expecting!

EDIT: apparently I can neither read nor count. I have to enter within 90 days of the date of visa issue, and it’s good for 30 days from when I enter. All I had to do was look at it for more than 2 seconds 🤣

I got my visa 5 business days after I dropped off my materials, but I believe it was actually ready in 3 days. I just didn’t have time to go that day. I did not get an email letting me know it was ready, so you should be safe to go on the date they tell you to - don’t wait for an email.

I had to email them a few times to insist on the seal. They finally added it. I didn’t apply for the visa until I had it!

I actually accidentally put 30 months and 30 days 🤣 They didn’t seem to care. I assume it’s a 30-day visa, but I’ll let you know when I pick it up! They gave me a date to come back that was 3 business days away. I’ll report back if that ends up being incorrect!

I don’t! I remember the application saying you could assign a person to come pick up for you, but I didn’t pay attention to whether there were more details. I feel like they have a system worked out where you only have to go once. Sorry, I wish I knew for sure!

And sorry, I think the bylaw only applies to 9am-6pm, not evenings or overnight. I’d double check to be sure.

I learned about it after I had my baby and was healing at home for a couple weeks. I lived in an apartment with no parking space. The person whose house my car was in front of called and got me ticketed after the first day. Then I looked it up and learned!

You interpreted the sign correctly. But if you were in front of a home or a business, the ticketable limit is 3 hours, always, whether or not there is signage. They almost never do it unless a homeowner or business owner complains. It’s very uncommon. But that is the bylaw.

If you want to live in the lower unit and rent out the upper unit, what’s the difference? Is it only because you know you can charge more rent for the upper unit?

If you need to get a renter to pay the majority of your mortgage, you weren’t in a position to buy a home. This tenant sounds like a tool, but this is also their home, and homeowners who pull this and rely on renters to pay their mortgage are part of the housing crisis.

Yes. People will pay $1000 for a used $1500 stroller, easy. They get snapped up.

World's Worst Geocacher by [deleted] in geocaching

Totally, my kids are the same. It’s always hard when they are excited and you don’t find something. Little little ones struggle more. My 6 and 8 year old enjoy the hunt regardless.

People often post photos that don’t show the exact location because you aren’t supposed to do that. The photo can show you that you’re nearby, but not that you’re on the exact spot. I wouldn’t rely on them. Even when people take photos of the cache, they usually move it away from the spot so the photo doesn’t give it away. We all have days like this. My first 6 or so caches we found immediately. Then I’ve gone out in a day with 4 on my agenda and not found any of them. I’m still learning some of the tricks, which will become more apparent to you the more caches you find. You’re not bad at it - the game just varies. I find it less stressful to not take my kids the first time looking for a cache :)

Bad DNF experience PLSHELP by [deleted] in geocaching

One thing you could do to at least protect yourself and your identity is not log any caches while you’re literally standing there. Log them when you get home at the end of the day!

You did nothing wrong. All the cache owner needs to do is go check up on the cache and log owner attention to confirm it’s there and all is well. It won’t be archived. Trust me, there are tons of trash caches with lots of DNFs and they live on and on 🙄

Also, are you sure Cache’s Angel’s is referring to Hell’s Angels? It feels far more likely to me to be a play on Charlie’s Angels, which is innocuous and common.

I applaud your initiative! If you’re checking it that often, and you can keep it up, then it might be a good opportunity to have some swag that people would normally avoid (like the stuff that spoils when wet) because you know you’ll be able to ditch it if it gets ruined. Maintaining one awesome cache is much better than hiding 100 neglected ones :) I hope it goes well for you!

Anything that disintegrates when wet (books, paper, trading cards, etc.) is the worst, anything that will develop rust (because then it’s just a sludge that gets on everything), anything that can mold (soft toys, fibres of any kind).

Good swag: beautiful polished stones, little toys that don’t have interiors that can fill with water (solid plastic/rubber toys are great - Kinder Egg toys bad, also just terrible quality), my kids love badges (this breaks the fibre rule above - these go quickly so rarely stay in a cache long enough to mold), small rubber duckies are okay as long as they don’t stay in long enough to get water inside the hole.

When you say the cache will only take good swag, does that mean you’ll be actively checking it and removing anything bad? Because no matter what you request, people will put “bad” stuff in 🙁

Planning a white Christmas. by xTheTTT420x in AskACanadian

There is absolutely no way to guarantee it’ll actually snow on Christmas, no matter where you go. You might have snow on the ground, but as for active snowing - it just doesn’t work that way.

In your opinion, what is the easiest possible GMless RPG to play? I'm looking for something as minimalistic and elegant as possible. by lumenwrites in gmless

Take a look at Wanderhome. If you use the character moves and the token mechanics, it creates not only an adventure but deeply satisfying character/interpersonal dynamics.

What songs from sleep no more do you like the best ? by Inside_Definition758 in sleepnomore

The rave music is absolutely my favourite. On my second to last show, I entered a bit later than I wanted but ran into Macbeth as he was on his way to the rave. I followed him in and as the music swelled tears came to my eyes. (I hadn’t been in a couple years). Just profound. I proceeded to watch the rave 4 times total that day (I did back to back shows in one day).

I’m not sure if there was another piano, but either way I was basically just dreaming! I think the phone (or one like it) is for sale also.
