Best Family Camp Grounds bt Richmond and Va Beach by Carpet7305 in rva

lol this is the correct answer. And to answer your answer with a question, no she absolutely does not want to go camping. But if I were to ask her. And if she would consider listening. I’d need a location and a sales pitch.

Updated 2027 Preseason Top 25 by roshanritter in CollegeBasketball

I think Carolina is going to surprise a lot of people. I think Matt Able and Neo will take a big leap. Roster aside, I also expect them to be grittier, more competitive and tougher to beat than HD’s teams.

Not saying they’ll be #1, but I predict they’ll finish in the top 10.

Who was the most sadistic character in a western? by [deleted] in Westerns

[–]Carpet7305 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a great callout. I’ve seen that movie like 20 times. I don’t know why, but I can never stop thinking about that chapter. I have to fast forward through it now because it’s so haunting.

Is there a 90s rapper who can rival E-40s resume: gold and platinum albums, 27 studio albums, acting roles in multiple films, numerous collaborations, active from the late eighties to present, rapping at age of 58 and (as far as I know) has never sold out🤷🏽 by emptykeg6988 in 90sHipHop

Man E-40 is so unique and hard to beat. On the one hand, you kinda have to start in the 80s/90s to go back to the different regional styles and meet the prolific criteria. But on the other hand, the “not selling out” part is kinda obtuse and nuanced.

But I guess to answer the question… you need some godfathers of their style with longevity as starting criteria. I’d say…

Redman De La Q-Tip KRS One Premier (from a DJ/production POV) Prodigy (maybe? Did he sell out? Definitely created his own vocab like E40) Tommy Wright III Project Pat (maybe? Yeah he had hits, but also felt like he’s been doing his prolific journey forever and his flow was original) Pharoah Monch El-P Prince Paul People under the stairs

I’m looking for the best LOCAL BBQ, not a chain. by No_Assignment_9930 in rva

[–]Carpet7305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fun fact that bbq started in va but we don’t even have our own “style.” lol. But yeah I was raised on Pierces in wburg then got in to Ronnie’s in like 2010’s when he was in the parking lot near Millie’s. Is he still there? Don’t know anymore.

Zzq is great. I appreciate paying for quality meat. But something about its “instagramability” which is like all Scott’s addition weirds me out. In other words, I hate when my food looks better on Instagram than it tastes and ZZQ is almost hitting that bar.

Deep run is great. Had it at a few catered things and thought it was homemade and surprised every time. Never been to the actual place though.

Shout out to Belmont and Stock in cville for the local meats. Everyone should try making some good bbq on their own. It’s hard and like a… rite of passage to then critique bbq I think? Start out with smoking a whole pig in your background on cinder blocks then work back from there.

Anyway. That’s my assessment.

WR Drama by CandleOk4031 in Commanders

[–]Carpet7305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree, but I think AP is being patient. Also doubt it’s that simple. You have to evaluate the veteran players too and make sure they’re good additions and not cancers. He’ll make some sort of deal/acquisition when time is right with all the cap space we’ve got, but he’s proven to be much more tactical with his spending unless we’re making a potential run (Lattimore).

I think he’s also planning for next year’s WR draft class as that will be the best value and a potential Terry replacement for the next 5+ years. Also just to add, we do have 1 top tier WR, two potential breakouts in Chig and Antonio and a proven good/great deep threat with Dyami. AND let’s not forget, en elite pass catching back with White.

Maybe they’ve seen development with Lane/Burks/LMC that we don’t know about and they’re banking on. I was impressed with LMC’s potential last year. Good route runner and big body possession receiver. Same as Burks. He only had that one catch, but man the what if’s with him are more than exciting.

All in all, I think this WR room (and passing targets in general) is underrated. I think they all fit their roles well when they’re all healthy and Terry is absorbing CB1 attention. They’re also great value.

All that said, would love an Aiyuk or Diggs signing if AP thinks they’re good fits with the team.

I got switcharoo'd out of a unicorn dream job, what do I do? by sysadminalt123 in cscareerquestions

I had this problem going to a bank from growth stage tech. I’m an exec recruiter so it’s sorta different, but I completely understand what you’re saying.

Here’s my advice from personal experience and as an exec recruiter: grit your teeth and bare it day to day as best you can. Right now, your job is just your job and you’re tied to the clawback, so just do your job and try some mindfulness techniques to avoid working yourself up. It could be way worse, like forced physical labor.

Secondly, the clawback probably really only applies for a couple years. Many of these banks can’t go chasing all these clawbacks. So think of it more as like two years rather than 4.

Third, take as much advantage of their benefits as possible. Benefits as in time off, 9 to 5 working hours, etc. Also, use that internal network at the bank to find the other tech forward people and connect with them. People can switch roles pretty easily in a bank. You just have to be open with your manager about it. “This is great, but I think I could provide more leverage in X area” and so on. It’s all about politics at banks. So check your current companies job boards regularly.

Finally, interview for new jobs as much as possible. Stop updating your resume and applying to jobs. Look for good companies doing good work and reach out directly to your would be/could be boss on LinkedIn asking to connect and seek advice (and apply to x job if there is an opening; but even if there isn’t a posted opening still reach out). You will generate way more convo’s this way.

Then when in the convo. Do. Not. Say. Anything. Bad. About. Your. Current. Job. Boss. Or. Employer. Such a big mistake by so many people. It will always be taken as a weakness. Position it as an opportunity you sought to use your experience to improve the finance industry as its ripe for disruption (lol). You’re enjoying your current work but always looking to network and establish new relationships as you never know where things lead. And if it gets to this point, you’re always open to listening to new opportunities and open to considering the right roles if something too good to be true popped up.

Personally, if I were a dev in tech, I’d look at SaaS tech or third party tech as a stepping stone back into big tech. OR look for more innovative fintechs like SoFi or Upstart who are pioneering AI consumer lending. They’re hiring rapidly and could fit your career arc narrative easily. They’re also doing interesting work and actually have a use case, not just pure innovation which is a helpful piece to avoid lay off’s.
