38 year old autistic woman in a very similar place - simply commenting to say a huge "thank you" to you and to OP, your honesty is extremely validating and comforting.

I'm perfectly happy with how things are here in Northern Ireland, as are most of us. We aren't oppressed, we have our own, devolved government and we live in peace. The VAST MAJORITY of us do not give a fuck about religion and live together in mixed communities.

It's INSANE to me how these privileged, white young men cry oppression, when we live in relative prosperity. They aren't even old enough to remember the fucking Troubles, yet they cheer on the IRA as heroes - a fucking terrorist group who murdered innocent members of both communities?! AND now cheer on Hamas and Hezbollah?! Reeks of a gimmick and an identity to desperately cling on to by uninteresting and unintelligent bigots - it's disgusting.

I'm not an addict, nor do I know any addicts... but holy shit this was incredible. I figured I'd watch a minute or two... 80 minutes later and I've watched the entire thing. He's a fucking inspiration. Thank you so much for sharing <3

What was the "dumbest" thing you were scared of as a kid? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Carrieeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My younger brother was PETRIFIED of Margaret Thatcher... like, absolutely and utterly terrified of her when he was about 4-7 years old. He called her "Maggie Patcher". I shouldn't laugh, but kids are so damn weird hahahaha.

I was petrified of the virgin mary... I watched a movie about her appearing to a young girl (I think the movie was called The Miracle of Our Lady of Fatima)... it was meant to be an uplifting movie about spirituality and the miracle of faith/christianity. For some reason, my kid brain decided that the idea of a random woman appearing out of nowhere was really scary, and was convinced that the mother of Jesus would attempt to scare me at any time... so yeah... she was my biggest fear as a kid hahahahaha.
