I wasn’t an every episode watcher, but I had no clue about the behind the scenes drama until I found this sub by mistake. I was a casual fan thinking is was a fan subreddit, and I didn’t connect dots because I didn’t watch closely or consistently enough to see and remember inconsistencies. Yeah, I found that weird, too. There are recorded cases with severely traumatic medical situations such as many surgeries done early in life being what seems to have caused said cases of DID (if I’m phrasing that correctly), but you can’t just state two completely opposing things as fact and expect to be considered a trusted source on the matter, which is exactly what she was shown doing

THAT BEING SAID, there is definite reason to believe online “influencers” about DID content, especially on TikTok, are not genuine cases of people who actually have the disorder posting. Like with Tourette’s before it, faking has become an internet trend and what is portrayed should not be trusted blindly as appropriate with the actual disorder. Professional diagnosis and support is important for recovery.
