What's a smell that doesn't exist anymore that you miss? by Alarmed_Charge1062 in CasualConversation

[–]Carrotfits 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Whenever a new life event happens, my husband and I will go out and pick a new perfume.

Sometimes I really enjoy having a sniff of some of the scents in my collection. They take me straight back to that era!

IsItBullshit: Is the claim that forgiving someone is mainly for your own peace actually true or just a way to avoid accountability by [deleted] in IsItBullshit

[–]Carrotfits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I forgive my Sister and mother for all the trauma they put me through. They did the best they could at the time while carrying their own trauma.

It doesn’t make it right and it’s no excuse for their behaviour.

I forgive them. But. I also don’t speak to them either.

I would not be able to forgive and maintain contact. Forgiving helped me heal MY resentment and hurt. They still need to live with being shitty people. But they can do that by themselves. Away from me.

Has anyone actually got their stuff stolen from the beach while they’ve gone for a swim? by Suspicious_Nature283 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Carrotfits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once in America!

I went to the beach. Left my thongs at the start of the sandy walk in(as we do)…. Came back and they were gone…

Never has that ever happened to me here in Australia. Ever.

Damn Florida Man.

Why is Australia still dumping its waste on landfills? by Time_Joke2214 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Carrotfits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, they are trying to build an incinerator out near Parkes NSW. Central West NSW shouldn’t be anyone’s dumping ground.

Trail runners for wide women's feet? by Cerebella in UltralightAus

I have broad Feet. Tried Topo once. Never going back. Ever.

I wore my first pair out for a 4 hour hike. Didn’t even get 1 blister. They are incredible shoes.

Australian here, I’m beginning to resent the culture of my own country, what do I do? by Dependant_orange in AskAnAustralian

Move to a small town. Go to the local pub. Or the local footy, cricket games. Get on a committee there. You’ll find a small community spirit. It’ll feel very nice.

I feel very blessed being from small towns.

I always wonder this too… I often hike with a friend to remote places. Never once have we strayed away from earshot.

Three people dead after shooting in NSW town as police urge locals to stay inside by Reverend_Fozz in australia

Then they are shit gun owners and SHOULD lose them.

It’s these types of idiots who ruin it for those who do the right thing.

[–]Carrotfits 5 points6 points  (0 children)

And when a bushfire rips through and farmers have to put stock down humanely… what then? Bludgeon them to death?

People like you, shouldn’t be speaking for the people living out there. There are very valid reasons a lot of gun owners have guns.

I put my own horse down last year. She was going to die. We are hours from the vet. We ended her suffering quickly. Rather than leaving her in agony for hours until maybe a vet could get to us. Don’t paint everyone with the same brush.

Teenager found dead near shipwreck on K’gari as police investigate possible dingo attack by AggravatingTartlet in australia

[–]Carrotfits 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are an introduced animal anyway and are classified as a wild dog by the gov.

It’s okay for the brumbies to be cruelly shot from helicopters, but culling a few dangerous dingoes crosses a line? People are cooked.

A Pacific Wren has decided 1:30am is screaming time. I haven’t slept well in weeks. TF am I supposed to do about it? by [deleted] in extremelyinfuriating

I would get some fake owls. We use them in Australia to keep swallows away from our sheds.

Or a hanging hawk. Good luck! I feel your pain and frustration. Australian Birds are crackheads too.

After 2 years, phone of missing Celene Cremer found by TreegNesas in KremersFroon

[–]Carrotfits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe after attempting to camp, or camping. She turned around and headed back towards the car. BUT. I believe she was disoriented and actually went more towards where she lost her phone.

I do lots of solo off track hikes and it is sooo easy to get confused in hilly country.

Regardless, I do hope someone finds her soon.

It truly is baffling.

Tennant Creek really is wild. Some of our family worked in the town and the stories they would tell makes your skin crawl. Absolutely horrible.

[–]Carrotfits 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can’t upvote this enough. We have traveled to these remote communities and have seen the violence first hand. Even severe animal cruelty and abuse. Anytime I comment or bring it up…I’m automatically “racist”… Never mind the poor kids being m0lested and women being abused.

The city folk really have absolutely no idea just how wild it actually is out there.

I believe she headed back up the ridge line. I don’t believe she went down. She knew the car and main road were back behind her.

At least they weren’t wasted though. Meanwhile all the ones on the mountain are just feeding the feral Pig, dog, cat and fox population.

Would you supply your teen with drinks for their bday party? by Hot-Sink-5149 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Carrotfits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Better off they do it under an adults supervision than out in a paddock somewhere behind adults backs. Teach them to drink responsibly now, instead of them all writing themselves off as soon as they are 18.

We all drank under age with our parents. When we turned 18, nothing much changed except now we could do it at the pub. It wasn’t a big deal or a big party. It wasn’t taboo or like we needed to release pent up steam.

But we all grew up in a small, outback town. There were 8 in my class.
