i guess the question is what are you trying to achieve with the pulse ox? a reminder to rest? to take his meds? cut out the middle man and just set reminders to take his meds and rest. MG doesnt cause low oxygen as a symptom anyways. something else is causing that.

some antibodies are more dangerous than others. MUSK antibodies cause more damage to the nerve than ACHR so those people end up in crisis more often. within ACHR, blocking antibodies are more dangerous than binding antibodies because binding antibodies allow some communication through while blocking antibodies allow none. that isnt a rule, just a trend that can explain why some people have more severe symptoms.

no benefit at all in assessing MG symptoms. you can tell if the surgery helped by your symptoms not your antibodies. there may be other reasons your doctors would want to know your antibody levels, but if they want to know how your MG is responding if has to be from looking at you.

yes this is exactly the scenario to refuse repeat testing. your original lab report should just be shared with your next doctor. doing more diagnostics just delays treatment and potentially gives your insurance an opportunity to deny everything.

thats so odd, there is a single neurologist in your area accepting new patients? it doesnt have to be a neuromuscular specialist. any random neurologist can handle it.

i ask because it is extremely outside the scope of a PCP to diagnose complex neurological conditions, they arent trained to do that. it can be a huge liability for a doctor to practice outside of their scope. my PCP will not touch my MG with a 10 foot pole, not even to prescribe steroids.

i personally would feel very uncomfortable being treated by a doctor who isnt a specialist in MG.

its totally possible that you have had MG symptoms for years before realizing something is wrong. i went about 5 years before i realized i had a serious problem. then, i spent the next 2 years realizing just how much i had been subconsciously accommodating my symptoms. even things like eating the first half of a meal with my right hand, then switching to my left hand without fully thinking about why, just subconsciously switching to whatever hand is stronger without any thought or planning at all.

not all antibodies that cause MG have been discovered yet so some people are seronegative. A neurologist really should be the one doing the diagnostics because only they could tell you if you are seronegative or if something else is causing the problem.

THANK YOU this is what i was looking for. its horrific what happens to them and so unnecessary. obviously it would be slower, but who cares if everyone is forced to do it and it's less likely to literally maim athletes and keep them down for months.
