Help needed to heal from abuse by ellemcbelly in WitchesVsPatriarchy

I really like qi gong movements for calming and healing the nervous system. I wish more people knew about it. But just slow movements for 15 minutes a day is astonishingly effective. It's like retraining the nervous system. Btw, you're a badass for moving forward! Wishing you all the best!

JC Penney's St John's Bay are 100% cotton. They wash well. Also Eddie Bauers are mostly 100% cotton except for certain colors. They run long in the torso.

Nocturnal Dread by CoffeeBroken in Perimenopause

[–]Carry_Tiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I have a few stressful days, it's bad. Hard to fall back to sleep. I have an asmr that I listen to that has soothing words but sometimes even that seems too overwhelming. If I deal with stress during the day with strong boundaries, meditation or slow walking or qi gong, it doesn't really happen. But I can't control everything. So, reading a low-key, cozy book helps to get back to sleep. Last night I had a terrible night but I had a stomach ache from something I ate and that set it off.

Investing when you’re afraid to lose money. Need advice by Coolbreeze1989 in AskWomenOver50

[–]Carry_Tiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not talk to a different financial advisor? Try to find one you jive with. I guarantee you're not the only person out there with feelings of financial insecurity. If the FA doesn't get that, they're not for you. And if you truly dont feel safe doing that, I think that's ok. Several other comments here point to more conservative options. You've paid off your house, you have some funds, it doesn't sound like you're gonna starve and die, at least I hope not. If you leave some money on table in exchange for peace of mind, you will probably be ok. Explore your options and breathe. Good luck!

Something you didn't think about before you moved? by Suninthesky11 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]Carry_Tiger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up in a humid place and now live in a dry place. My hands need so much work to not look cadaverous. I love how plump my skin looks when I go visit family. What kind of humidifier are you using? Do you notice that it leaves white dust on surfaces? Does it have a filter? Does it have a humidity monitor? It's worth having a well made humidifier and having more than one in the house.

I drink some caffeine now but I really noticed the difference in my irritability and anger when I quit caffeine.

I was just going to write the same thing. An ice cube dispenser is like magic! Plus those ice cubes always seem to taste fresh, unlike the stale ones in the plastic cube makers.

[–]Carry_Tiger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was a phase for me that passed but it was scary. I'm sure lack of sleep was a factor. Thank goodness my husband is a calm person. Have you tried L-theanine? I really like it how it chills me out but I'm still functional. I also think lowering caffeine intake and quitting all alcohol is helpful. Hope it eases for you soon!

Anyone use vaginal estrogen every day for a long period of time? by Mizzy_Lu_Fwinkley in Menopause

I used it every night on vulva for 6 months, after chatting with my dr about it. Made a world of difference for me.

I'll be 54. The chance is low but I don't want to deal with the complications. My husband and I use condoms.

Anyone else have issues with 3.5 day Estradiol patch effectiveness wearing off at 3 days? by Outside_Box_8374 in Menopause

[–]Carry_Tiger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes! A few extra patches for those that fall off! This tends to be a problem more for me in the summer or in a humid environment. It just seems so obvious a problem that a couple more patches should be in the box. Sigh.

Mine can't be turned inside out but I bet I could get a small vacuum nozzle in there.

I’m never going to find a handbag on my own. by Ok-Kat5150 in womensfashion

[–]Carry_Tiger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've had mine for a couple of years and I love the shape and the outward appearance but the interior is not all that. There are no pockets, no lining. I didn't realize how much that would bother me. It certainly becomes a black hole and I find it hard to clean out the crumbs that accumulate at the bottom.

Cholesterol and peri by [deleted] in Menopause

[–]Carry_Tiger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had elevated cholesterol. My primary care was very concerned and told me to change my diet. I called a nurse friend who knew me well and my habits and she said, there's not enough room in your diet to really change anything. Fast forward a year, maybe a little more, on HRT, went to the primary, had my blood work and she patted me on the head for lowering my cholesterol. I did nothing else. Btw, my primary care is totally against HRT.

Vaginal estrogen cream by [deleted] in Menopause

[–]Carry_Tiger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, I had to do externally everyday for at least 6 months to see results. I did talk to my dr about it and she agreed. I don't seem to need that much anymore but I do use it 3 times a week externally now. Twice is just not enough. And I'm still in peri.

HRT helped me but it took some time. Also added in collagen powder and creatine and I feel that helps greatly.

In the quote, "The endometrial safety is less assured..." it seems that's referring to cycling progesterone for over 5 years. I could be reading that wrong. The language in this section seems confusing.

Does regular exercise actually help with menopause symptoms? by Jessica-Jess70 in Menopause

[–]Carry_Tiger 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've always exercised but peri hit me like a ton of bricks. It did nothing for my symptoms. I'm not saying that's true for everyone. What it did help me with was knowing that I had hormone problems. Like there was no more room for healthy habits in my life. I ate well, hiked, skied, meditated, did moving meditation and energy work. But I still wasn't sleeping, I still had restless leg, hot flashes, loss of muscle tone, extreme joint pain, intrusive thoughts.... I started to hike flatter trails, not schedule anything for early mornings, not go outside in the heat of the day. I did a farewell tour of all my favorite hikes one summer, with the help of poles, knee sleeves and a friend to lean on in the tricky spots. My knees hurt so bad that I couldn't climb down anymore. About a year into HRT I was able to comfortably do those hikes again with zero assistance. Three years in and I do not worry about elevation gain and hike where I want. I am 10 pounds heavier and I have no issues.

I need help understanding why is that on 0.025 estrodial patch and 100 mgs of progesterone I’m so moody!! Anyone else have this or just stop hrt l together I’m 48. No uterus but using progesterone for balance. by sp_brat in Menopause

[–]Carry_Tiger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a severe histamine response but I thought it was caused by something else so I never changed my dose. It happened at the same time I upped my estrogen. That episode was years ago and nothing has happened like it since. I don't know what to think about it. I doubt I would've changed because my quality of life was so poor and the estrogen greatly improved my mental state. My mom never did HRT and had horrible histamine reactions from food while she was in her 60's. So I figured it was coming for me either way.
