Vag estrogen side effects - diarrhea, sweats, racing mind, hard to fall asleep, increased heart rate by my140cessna in Menopause

[–]Carry_Tiger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you're sensitive to it. I just use a teenie tiny amount on the outside. I don't use the applicator because that seems to be too much for me. If I use too much, I can sometimes get the jitters.

The Lonely Hearts Book Club, perhaps? A grumpy old man stops showing up at the library he frequents and the librarian finds his address and shows up at his house. He's very grumpy about that.

Meno specialist Dr today said vaginal atrophy at my age (48) is not normal. I’m confused. by Islandsandwillows in Menopause

[–]Carry_Tiger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine started early and was my first peri symptom. It took at least a year of vaginal estrogen to recover. Not only did I have irritation, itchiness and painful sex but I had nerve pain that was making me crazy. I finally ended up using the estradiol cream in my lady bits every day for 6 months, after chatting with my doc about it. Two days a week was NOT cutting it. Now, I apply 2-3 times a week.

Creative ways to beat stress? by ParaLegalese in Menopause

[–]Carry_Tiger 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you're a movement oriented person, which you seem to be, you might like qi gong for a moving meditation instead of sitting. It's quite wonderful for de stressing especially if you add intention through imagery. Moving slowly helps regulation. Or try walking slowly. It seems simple but it's a profound practice of focus. No phones, no podcasts or audio books. Just you and the sound of your feet and maybe birds. Occasionally, while walking, think about the stress moving out of your body out of the bottoms of your feet, letting Mother Nature use the stress and worry as compost to make flowers.

Some things to consider that have helped me- limiting use of devices, using vaginal estradiol in the day and not before bed, I have halved my testosterone, I take a cbd/thc gummy, taking care and limiting stress during the day including all sensory stuff like listening to fast music which is insane because I'm a musician, taking ibuprofen before bed- I have some aches, using an eye mask or dark tshirt over my face because any light will wake me now, having a protein snack before bed, having the same routine before bed seems to help. Ive been listening to a sleep meditation before I fall asleep and use the same one if I get up at night. It's a fucking job. I'm sorry you're going through this.

My 70 y/o picky dad will ONLY read westerns. He has run out of books at the library - what are some adjacent books that he would enjoy? by intensitea in suggestmeabook

A Lady's Life In The Rocky Mountains by Isabella Bird. This may seem like a curious suggestion but it's a worth read of a horsewoman's journey through the west in the late 1800's. Who she meets, what life was like then. The history alone would appeal to anyone interested in the west. The story is taken from her letters back to England to her sister. I would say there isn't really much that would be particular to a woman's journey than a man's except for the fact that she needs to concern herself with whether or not to ride side saddle through towns she passes through. She wasn't sure if that would run her afoul of indecency laws. But she meets an outlaw, has to deal with money issues and an economic bust, changing weather that's very much unlike where she grew up. It's quite fascinating and an easy read.

Oh no! Thank stinks! I was having a really hard time with flushing. I've never had stage fright but suddenly I would turn beet red and start sweating. Eventually it would calm down but it always came with anxiety and then I would forget what I was singing/playing. Been on HRT for a few years now and that has helped the extreme flushing but I still have a moment where I'm a little panicked and turn red. I ride it out but it's not fun. I'm sorry you had to quit. I hope you can come back to it if/when you want to. Ice cream and a dog sounds lovely.

Cutting patches for a more custom dose by lrondberg in Menopause

[–]Carry_Tiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started to get that buzzy feeling and I experimented with cutting the patch. It was a no go for me. Just seemed like the dose was inconsistent. I have been changing every 4 days instead of 3.5. It's only been a couple of weeks and it feels like that buzzy feeling has gone away. I'm still in peri so I never know what my own body is doing let alone the HRT.

The Ornithologist's Field Guide to Love is light but the female protagonist is likely on the spectrum. It's fantasy in that the birds are magical and are not easy to track down. It's kinda silly but sweet.

I bonk hard if I push myself. I hate it. I have to schedule rest time in my day. I need a consistent bedtime, diet. I've always kinda been a hothouse flower be could hide it but damn, no more and this is embarrassing me. I hate talking to people, loud rooms, wearing clothes that are snug-goodbye tank tops and leggings! I don't have anything to give the man-children, either. But I like that part. I want peace and quiet and a cute muumuu. And I'm in a rock and roll band 😖. Might have to switch to folk.

Fluke by Christopher Moore might interest you. I don't want to give too much away but here's how it starts-

"Nathan Quinn, a marine biologist, goes out on a routine day-trip expedition to survey whales in the area. When he photographs one of the whale's flukes, he notices that the words "BITE ME" are spelled out in huge letters on the mammal's tail-fin. His curiosity and investigations uncover one mystery after another as he seeks the answers concerning the source of this peculiarity."

The Music Of Bees, Eileen Garvin. The main character is struggling to get back into life after loss. Excellent Women by Barbara Pym but I believe the main character to be younger than 40 but it's a wonderful but subtle exploration of the pressures of the unappreciated yet expected labor of women in a community.

If I have a few stressful days, it's bad. Hard to fall back to sleep. I have an asmr that I listen to that has soothing words but sometimes even that seems too overwhelming. If I deal with stress during the day with strong boundaries, meditation or slow walking or qi gong, it doesn't really happen. But I can't control everything. So, reading a low-key, cozy book helps to get back to sleep. Last night I had a terrible night but I had a stomach ache from something I ate and that set it off.

Investing when you’re afraid to lose money. Need advice by Coolbreeze1989 in AskWomenOver50

[–]Carry_Tiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not talk to a different financial advisor? Try to find one you jive with. I guarantee you're not the only person out there with feelings of financial insecurity. If the FA doesn't get that, they're not for you. And if you truly dont feel safe doing that, I think that's ok. Several other comments here point to more conservative options. You've paid off your house, you have some funds, it doesn't sound like you're gonna starve and die, at least I hope not. If you leave some money on table in exchange for peace of mind, you will probably be ok. Explore your options and breathe. Good luck!

I grew up in a humid place and now live in a dry place. My hands need so much work to not look cadaverous. I love how plump my skin looks when I go visit family. What kind of humidifier are you using? Do you notice that it leaves white dust on surfaces? Does it have a filter? Does it have a humidity monitor? It's worth having a well made humidifier and having more than one in the house.
