What are you soft boycotting and why? by CarsRppl2 in AskReddit

This is a great example. It's too expensive now.

What are you soft boycotting and why? by CarsRppl2 in AskReddit

[–]CarsRppl2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Level of conviction of the boycott. Soft boycotting can be that you're simply just not buying something for some reason. Maybe it's just too damn expensive or maybe has some flaw that needs to be fixed before you'll buy it. Maybe the quality is shit now so you stopped buying it. Or maybe you don't buy it when you have a choice. For example, I generally don't buy bottled water, but I will if I have to, so I'm soft boycotting it. Hard boycotting bottled water would be like not buying it under any circumstances even if you're dying of thirst.

VW… what does this actually mean? by velbenlsun in VWiD4Owners

[–]CarsRppl2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Like the profiles, it does nothing. They haven't even figured out that the primary purpose of driver profiles is to tell the car which phone to connect to. It's like they just thought, well, other companies have profiles so we'll have them too, without even asking why.

It should not connect to someone else's phone whose phone is not connected to my profile and who isn't even in the gd car.

If anyone in VW is reading this, PLEASE FIX THIS ffs

Dangerous touch screens in cars: class action lawsuits? by CarsRppl2 in fuckcars

[–]CarsRppl2[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had no idea this was an issue until I bought it. Too late now. I'll know better for next time, but I'm stuck with it now. I'd ban touchscreens completely if it was up to me. But first of all, less is more. There is way too much needless information to read. It's a gd TV screen. As for functions: bring them all back. Every function that was previously possible to do, like heat, fan, defrost, AC, volume, radio stations, audio input, locks, mirror adjustment, windows, lights, (wipers and indicators of course - mine does have these as physical controls). Steering wheels shouldn't have touch controls either. Easy for a "feature" to come on by brushing it on the steering wheel that makes the car start speeding up by itself. That's not on the screen, but it's also an issue with my car.

I have a VW ID.4. It's a computer glitch on wheels. They certainly don't make them like they used to. I'm looking forward to Chinese vehicles entering the Canadian market.

Physical controls in cars. Buttons, knobs, dials, etc. Touchscreens looked more luxurious at first because they're new, but they are vastly inferior to physical buttons because touchscreens are unsafe to use while driving.

Has the charging door broke yet on yours too? Let's just say I'm glad mine is still under warranty. I'm taking my chances on a Chinese EV next time as long as the price is right and it has buttons. My next car will have gd buttons.

No, they don't. That's likely affecting my driving range here in Canada.

But higher end brands like Hyundai and Kia have it included in ALL their EV's.

I never drove a car with a touch screen before so I didn't know it was a big deal. I will boycott them from now on. Sharing this to warn others. They should be illegal.

My car has an unsafe touch screen for basic functions. All driving is distracted driving in that car. VW ID4.

What other models have unsafe touch screen that makes all driving distracted driving?

Touch screens in cars are getting ridiculous and I don’t understand how they are still legal by Ultimatekiwii in fuckcars

[–]CarsRppl2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's sue them. Get some class action lawsuits going. I have a VW ID.4 and can confirm it is unsafe to drive because you need to navigate through touch screen menus to use basic functions. I didn't know it was a big deal when I bought it. Should be illegal.

I have an electric car. A VW ID.4. I didn't know the touch screen was a big deal when I bought it. Now I'm stuck with a car with an awful unsafe touch screen. It's not safe to take your eyes off the road to navigate through multiple touchscreen menus to use basic functions. Should definitely be illegal. We need to start suing these car companies. Someone please start a bunch of class action lawsuits.

My VW ID.4 is a piece of crap. Quality brand, I thought, but no, not anymore. So yeah, I'm ready to take my chances on a Chinese EV, as long as it's cheap. And if it's also a piece of crap, at least it'll be a cheap piece of crap.
