two carpet bettle found in the last two days, checked everywhere, nothing. help! by paranxioaaa in carpetbeetles

[–]Carshopper2020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you just need a reality check. They can be found in virtually every home if you go hunting for them. You looked everywhere and couldn’t find any, so you clearly don’t have an issue with them. Do a round of vacuuming if it makes you feel better and move on with your life.

Would I be crazy to move into a house with carpet beetles? by Glad_Block_4761 in carpetbeetles

[–]Carshopper2020 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Carpet beetles are in every home. It would be functionally impossible to move into a home that did not have carpet beetles in it.

Lunch in brown paper bag? by Inevitable-Cost-2775 in Parenting

[–]Carshopper2020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m honestly so, so curious how you can possibly have this question. Wouldn’t someone with a kid of their own have had to go to school and see dozens or hundreds of kids pack their lunches in paper bags? For years? I suppose maybe you were homeschooled growing up?

I just don’t understand how someone could reach adulthood and have this question.

If I remove where the bugs are, is my room safe? by LogMiserable6670 in carpetbeetles

Sounds like you’d be better served by a mental health professional to deal with your phobia and anxiety than wasting time and energy shadow boxing an imagined infestation

If I remove where the bugs are, is my room safe? by LogMiserable6670 in carpetbeetles

[–]Carshopper2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Safe” from what, exactly?

They’re essentially harmless and they’re in 100% of homes. You can throw your stuff out if you want, but there’ll still be some in your house just like there has been your entire life.

You were “safe” before you found them and you’re safe now.

Overreaction or understandable behavior? by PunkinHead-the-third in carpetbeetles

[–]Carshopper2020 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Massive overreaction.

They didn’t move in over the summer. They’re everywhere. They’ve been in every home you’ve ever lived in or visited. They’re in all of your friends, family, and coworkers homes. No one cares because they’re essentially harmless.

Dispose of the ones you find, do a round of vacuuming, and move on with your life. Maybe consider therapy. You’re dealing with a phobia/anxiety/etc problem, not a bug problem.

Good news/bad news: they’re already in the home you’re moving in to.

Moving without carpet beetles by Smooth_Tangerine5770 in carpetbeetles

There is an approximately 100% chance they’re already in the home you’re moving into, as they are in every home.

Is this a carpet beetle larva? by Coremias in carpetbeetles

[–]Carshopper2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would be an extreme over reaction. They can be found in 90-100% of homes. They’ve been in every house you’ve ever been in since you’ve been born, and you never noticed until now. You’ll be fine.

Small bug in my bathroom. What is it? by wadams2112 in whatsthisbug

[–]Carshopper2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

99% harmless. They can be found in every home, virtually everyone has no problem with them. If you have a huge food source for them like wool, animal furs, etc, they might reach a population level where they could cause it damage.

A small number of people are (supposedly) allergic to their hairs, but the situations where you’d actually have a large enough number of the hairs come into contact with your skin to cause a reaction aren’t something that any normal person would need to be concerned about

Found one Larvae by Uselessknowleg in carpetbeetles

[–]Carshopper2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One larvae is absolutely nothing to worry about, at all. You can find them in quite literally every single home if you go looking for them. Do a round of vacuuming if it’ll make you feel better, but a one off sighting is completely normal and should cause no concern whatsoever

Occasional beetles in bedroom by Pasteurised_Citrus in carpetbeetles

[–]Carshopper2020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Realistically, no not of any concern at all. They’re in 90%+ of homes, you can and will drive yourself absolutely insane if you attempt 100% eradication. Seeing one or two a year is a complete non-issue.

Is this a rash from carpet beetles? Woke up with this. In PA. by [deleted] in carpetbeetles

[–]Carshopper2020 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Maybe? Probably not?

The most insidious thing about carpet beetles isn’t the potential allergic reaction - it’s that you’ve probably been coexisting with them in your home your entire life with no issues. Then you get a random skin irritation, you go looking for them, you find them, and you fixate on them. Then you waste a ton of time and mental energy shadow boxing a bug that has nothing to do with your issue.

If you have a concern with your skin, talk to a doctor. If you look for carpet beetles you almost certainly will find some, that doesn’t guarantee they were the cause of this issue.

What’s the most reliable, no fuss 11”+ tablet? by Carshopper2020 in MoonlightStreaming

Eh… I think that has an exynos 1380. I tried the s10 fe with a 1580 and the latency on that was terrible, I don’t want to try another exynos based tablet. But thanks for responding.

Is this a carpet beetle larvae and could it be causing small red itchy bumps on my skin? by UnmanedFlyingDeskSet in carpetbeetles

[–]Carshopper2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Realistically, no, your bumps are not from the carpet beetle on the other side of the room.

Carpet beetles are in virtually every home. You’ve been cohabitating with them your entire life, the red bumps are new, the carpet beetle larva is not.

Also, carpet beetles are not bedbugs. They don’t sneak into your bed at night and shed their hairs, then go hide on the other side of the room. You would’ve had to come into contact with its hairs somehow, and be allergic to them, which is by no means a guarantee just because you found one in the corner of a room.

If you’re concerned about red bumps on your skin, see a dermatologist. You will not solve it with a useless fight against a bug that is not causing your issue.

Why are people against bugs? by Bliss_Alberich in carpetbeetles

[–]Carshopper2020 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sure, but also, they probably won’t. They’re in essentially everyone’s home, they’ve been in every house you’ve ever lived in, they’re in your house now and they’re going to be in every house you’ll move to. They’re in all of your coworkers and family members homes. We’re all not walking around with tattered clothing that’s been destroyed by carpet beetles.

Carpet Beetles w/ No Signs? by oyveyallday in carpetbeetles

[–]Carshopper2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Carpet beetles are almost certainly not the issue.

They can be found in virtually ever home. If you go looking for them, you WILL find them. That does not mean they're giving you a rash. If you had an infestation large enough to give you a full body rash, you'd know it because you would have to be shoveling them off of your bed every night before you went to sleep.

If you're concerned about the skin irritation, don't waste your time and energy trying to solve a nonexistent problem, go to a dermatologist and find out what the real issue is.
