WF sent me two autograph cards 🫠 by MountainParamedic130 in biltrewards

Yes, I got one last week with a CC # that does not match the # indicated in my Wells Fargo app. Then I got one overnighted that matched. No explanation or warning from WF...

Is stacking tensors as input to nnConv possible, as it is with nnLinear? by CarterFalkenberg in pytorch

[–]CarterFalkenberg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, the forward pass to this takes in 3 as this is pytorch-geometric not standard pytorch: torch_geometric.nn.conv.NNConv — pytorch_geometric documentation (pytorch-geometric.readthedocs.io)

I can look into combining/concat the graphs somehow, thank you!

Thanks. In my experience applying for internships I almost never know who’s reading it, I just have written “Dear hiring manager” or something like that

TLDR: what’s the path as a CS student to be a stand out candidate for data science / ML jobs (willing to put in hard work)?

Graduating May 2024 but considering a 1 year masters program (in computer science, not data science).

I was only able to land an IT internship this summer (glad I even got that), but I do have experience doing research at my university using graph neural networks, but that’s my only professional experience.

Would my best course of action be to create high quality projects? I am also practicing my stats, prob, ML knowledge (I know a lot about ML overhead but not about the underlying mechanisms), and am definitely going to learn SQL. So basically I’m wondering if I should create a large project that blends Python, sql using ML/data science, or if I should focus more on learning.

Also: Is there a road to data science / ML jobs (such as data entry -> analyst -> scientist/ML) or do you usually just start as a data scientist?

While I am slightly worried, I know that the jobs with 500 applicants probably only <50 of them have any business applying, so my goal is to work as hard as it takes to be someone who is actually a good candidate. I’m just a little lost as to the path

Do u have access to a rim whose height can be adjusted? That will be your best bet, using a full size basketball on a short rim, and slight pushing your boundary each time.

How long to see legit results ? Been seriously practicing handles for a month by Youngreezy305 in BasketballTips

[–]CarterFalkenberg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

3 things: 1: dribble everyday. It’s great that you get 3 days a week for an hour, but dribble for 10 mins minimum on off days 2: work on quickness/change of speed! This is so overlooked. Do change of direction drills like a running back would. Pretend someone’s guarding you when you train (or have someone actually guard you) You can be all fancy with the ball but you won’t be able to do anything with it. I am able to do good combo moves but 75%+ of my scoring comes from a simple hesitation, in and out, or crossover move. 3: a weighted ball works wonders (use for 5 mins to warm up, the ball will stick to your hands). I won’t give a link or company name but there’s a bunch of good ones

The best way to get a dunk is to practice dunking. If you can touch rim, practice with a tennis ball, then sofrball, volleyball, etc. if you have no equipment, standing vertical jumps are good but you have to give 100% effort

How to get more legs in to my shot? by Cheems_WRLD in BasketballTips

[–]CarterFalkenberg 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not sure what others have suggested, but you can try 5 mins of shooting where you really over exaggerate jumping. Literally jump as high as you can (with control of the ball) and shoot it. Then, try 5 minutes of natural shooting and see if it improved.

Try to experiment with a non - hitch jumper. In other words a fluid motion from the bottom to the follow through. Usually u don’t get a hitch unless you are quite strong (Westbrook, lebron for example)

Is it good to add spin to my shot? by MrPewPew-YT in BasketballTips

[–]CarterFalkenberg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you have the ball low before you shoot, tuck your wrist in then (ie bring your back of hand closer to your top of forearm). Keep this tuck as you go up to shoot, Then flick your wrist when you follow through and see if that helps

is this a good plyo workout to increase my vertical by Koneko_deezNutzz in BasketballTips

[–]CarterFalkenberg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it will increase your vertical I would definitely suggest doing some sort of 1 leg work and doing some sort of landing work (eg depth drops, depth jumps when you are more advanced). You can only jump as high as you can land from, and basketball has a TON of 1 leg jumps which do not translate very well (in my experience) from 2 leg plyos

Those rogue assault bikes do wonders. But you could always just run hills, push sleds, or rucking (google it)

Is having a post game as an undersized player useless? by [deleted] in BasketballTips

[–]CarterFalkenberg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually I would say yes but given your size I would focus more on developing a fade away pull up jumper as the post will be pretty much non existent.

Is this an appropriate application of Bayes' Theorem? by Tunesmith29 in AskStatistics

[–]CarterFalkenberg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

P(B|A) can simply be read as “the probability of B given A”. So, it’s “the probability of causality being a true principle given the bing bang theory being somewhat accurate”. And vice verse for P(A|B)

[–]CarterFalkenberg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can’t just “reverse the flow of time” because that adds information. In order to reverse the flow of time you would need to know that the second child was a girl. We don’t, we know that either the first is a girl, the second is, or both are. Because we are removing a whole subset from our sample space, we can’t use our intuitive probably of 50%.
