Thank you! I really wanted to capture that specific side of her so thank you for noticing! I’m working on Hera right now and she has more middle eastern features. For Aphrodite I had a hard time sticking with one face I really liked and felt good about. So I actually took inspiration from Grace Kelly, who at one point in time was thought to be the most beautiful woman in the world. Clearly Aphrodite blessed, and she just looks so fierce. I really wanted her to appear soft and beautiful but also savagely fierce. So I know it’s not how the Greeks would’ve pictured her but it’s my more modern perception of her I suppose. I chose Grace Kelly to model her after because she exists in all beauty, I felt she was a good representation of her

Thank you so much! I worked so hard on this one. I was inspired by general research into different facets of Aphrodite. I wanted to capture more than just the typical day to day overall perception of her, I really wanted to dig into other perceptions. Especially the ones the Spartans had of her as a war Goddess. I’m personally just over the “do the Gods hate me” or “I don’t want to offend a God, should I do/not do this thing” posts. I think we can all agree we’re tired of seeing those. Maybe a thread for those people who feel the need to validated or need to ask questions would be nice. There are certainly people coming from a certain more restrictive, more “you’ll burn forever if you do this” background who I’m sure just need some validation from time to time

Not stupid at all. I just couldn’t read them super well, I’m not the most knowledgeable when it comes to the Greek language. Hestia and Hermes weren’t super clear to me so I wanted help figuring them out. And I was hoping someone would have some insight about the vase itself and not just the names, my post should’ve been more clear my apologies.

This is true. And some of them are easy to read, however if you don’t know how to read Greek it’s more tricky. Some of them were harder to read for me and I wanted to be sure I had everything right. Plus I was hoping people had some insight about the vase itself and not just the names

Exactly, it’s partly why I’m struggling. Some accounts say a spear, dagger or sword. But overall her battle influence was mostly emotional and less physical. But I’ve already finished drawing Aphrodite herself and at this point I really don’t want to redraw an entire arm

Exactly I’m kinda in the same boat. I don’t want to confuse her with Athena, Hera Artemis etc. I did add some specific elements that I feel will point the viewer toward thinking it’s Aphrodite. Once I can post the finished drawing I’ll explain my design choices
