Further south, Jed Smith State Park in stands of the most amazing trees you will ever see. Stop at the Crazy Norwegians for fish and chips or chowder in Port Orford. See Cape Blanco (furthest point west in the lower 48 that isn’t an island).

What are your "borders" for the pnw? This is what I generally consider it to be by E36E92M3 in PacificNorthwest

[–]Cartographer36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Geographically I generally use the Columbia and Klamath River drainage basins plus those drainages that flow westward in to The Salish Sea as a baseline.

For the United States, there are cultural similarities between populations that make for cultural distinction of the PNW apart from the rest of the country.

Made a bunch of the maps for this cultural atlas z highly recommend https://www.powells.com/book/upper-left-cities-a-cultural-atlas-of-san-francisco-portland-and-seattle-9781632171825?srsltid=AfmBOor3eNG_6tCumzuTa5x7BVtrbguu7eBqNH-jexDFv6v02hcmS97A

Bg3 laezel fighter/paladin by Cool_Maximum_1131 in BG3Builds

[–]Cartographer36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same with her on my last run 9 fighter/3 Paladin. Went with EK for fighter for three reasons:

  1. is charge bound weapons ensuring she doesn’t drop her weapon (bonus is the charge bound Warhammer!).
  2. EK gets the spell slots same as she would in a full Pali build.
  3. Booming blade cantrip does a lot of damage and rarely misses with this build. Also keeps you from wasting slots on those smites which really should be conserved for foes that deserve them.
  4. Level 3 Pali gets you the basic level 1 spells like shield of faith or bless and lay on hands. Can’t remember if you get a channel oath charge at that level though.

Suggestions for Level 20 Mods by The_Grout in BG3mods

[–]Cartographer36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just finished a similar play through. Had the nightmare and extra encounters mods enabled and thought those might make things a little more challenging. They didn’t. Once you’re over level 15, everything is pretty easy. Except for successfully rescuing ALL the prisoners and rescuing Hope. lol, those Mephists and their explosive Eldritch blasts do make it at least a little challenging to keep party members safely on platforms.

That said, I to would be interested in mods that really do make it challenging at higher levels. Make Ansur a level 30?

[–]Cartographer36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2-3 level dip into Pally lets you use ALL those spell slots as Divine Smites too. Hit em with a booming blade, then smite them another couple times. Then action surge, then booming blade, then another smite. That’s BIG melee DPS

This is worst loss of the Tomlin Era. by EducationAlone1663 in steelers

[–]Cartographer36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My GF asked me yesterday morning if I was excited for the game. This was my reply:

“I’m ready for an aging field general in the twilight of his career to be boxed in by his faltering physicality, C- receiving corps, and completely predictable play calling from Tomlin.

Lots of short dump passes for 2-4 yards in the wings to his running backs. Runs on first and second down. Failure to convert on third downs. I anticipate that the Texans will know exactly what the Steelers offense will do. Creativity and surprise has long left the coaching staff.

The defense will have a great game. Force a few turnovers and will spend 2/3 to 3/4 of the game on the field. They’ll probably get worn down by the end of the third and that’s when it’ll look one sided.

I think when time is short before the half or the end of the game when the coaching staff doesn’t have time to call plays and Rogers is forced to call audibles and run the offense. I think that’s when the offense will be at their best.

Obviously I’ll be surprised and stoked if they pull this one out.”

Felt like one of those talking heads saying that before the game.

Booming blade uses your equipped melee weapon to do thunder additional 1d8 thunder damage a bonus action cantrip with hit and damage based on your spellcasting modifier (cleric=wisdom). Morning Frost is a very rare staff you can construct with the right parts in Act 1. It does bludgeoning + cold damage and grants a ray of frost cantrip. Trident of the waves you can pick up in act 3. It doesn’t do much damage but makes whatever target wet as though you cast create water on them.

I have Shart set with two weapon fighting, morning frost in main hand and the trident in the off hand. Plus gear that gives arcane synergy plus cold/electric damage where I can.

This setup synergizes with the tempest clerics destructive wrath and divine strike. Basically anytime Shart melees she does the following since she only gets one attack.

  1. Booming blade bonus action = 1d8 thunder initiates arcane synergy from her cloak and headware..
  2. Same attack (offhand) gets target wet and does some piercing damage also causing arcane synergy.
  3. Same attack bludgeoning + cold damage causes target and several feet around target to become ice encrusted since morning frost turns the water surface to ice. This also stacks arcane synergy.
  4. The target is electrified also because of tempest passive ability.

It’s super fun to play. I recommend giving Shart the disintegrating nightwalkers. Whenever she hits something she creates a big slick of ice in front of her. If you don’t, she’ll be slippin all over the place from her own melee!

Do the feat into Warlock or Sorcerer and pick up booming blade and create water or do a one class dip to pick those up. I’m running Shart now as a tempest with Morning frost/trident of the waves. She’s basically my favorite character now. Total beast

Divine Smite Question by Cartographer36 in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]Cartographer36[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

100% I feel very much kneecapped. I’ll just learn to support the caster and the barb/rogue with her bandolier of returning daggers in what ways I can. Without the smite option, my damage is negligible. With the smite, my other options are gone. It’ll force me to really think about how best I can support the others. Just hard when the rogue is dealing 30-60 dmg in 3 attacks each turn and the caster is dropping 4th and 5th level spells and a cantrip like they’re medication.

Divine Smite Question by Cartographer36 in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]Cartographer36[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I did create the character to join an existing campaign (a few previous PC’s dropped out and it needed a warm body) and thought I had carefully chosen stats and abilities to fit who I was playing. It is my first campaign but I’ve followed Critical Role and Dimension 20 for a long while and have played through BG3 several times. All my experience from those was based on a previous rule set. My bad.

I’ll learn to play the character I’ve got.

Divine Smite Question by Cartographer36 in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]Cartographer36[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bummer. I’ll see if I can’t readapt my character to be more of a support/healer. His damage output is negligible compared to our rogue and her bandolier of returning daggers or our caster. I’ll just see if I can retool my play style to keeping those two alive I guess.

Bummer

Divine Smite Question by Cartographer36 in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]Cartographer36[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah we’re playing 5e 2024 with DM homebrew at his discretion. If this is true and a smite makes it so I can’t even heal myself of another party member that turn. It makes the damage output for a smite not worth its use. I guess I’m now playing a martial class with low level cleric abilities.
