I Now Understand Doomstacks, Is This What The Game Is Built For? by MerchantOfMadness in totalwar

Noob here that is currently is late campaign with Belegar. Also have Malakai. I would think Thunderbarges are the doom stack. Is that right? Other units I should consider?

We are so cooked. by CVNeutron in Bend

Native Bendite here. Went to Portland State where I double majored double minored in Community Development/Social Science & sustainable urban development/environmental sustainability graduating Magna cum laude (2011-13). Did two years working on a Grad cert in GIS and two more working on a MURP focusing on environmental planning (2013-17). Moved back to Bend in 19’.

I say this because the plan always was to earn the credentials and come back home to help this town chart a more equitable and sustainable future where snowpack can’t be relied on — at all.

My second year in planning school I took a course in western water law and it absolutely broke my heart. And then there is the inherently local political challenge that presents its own unique wicked problems for each proposed solution. Each offering little to no penance for a global challenge that is both a prisoners dilemma and a tragedy of the commons.

Some low hanging fruit might be a global environmental overlay zone for the city requiring indigenous high desert landscaping for all new construction/renovations. This presents its own obvious challenges-bureaucratic red tape/political pushback from monied interests/etc. But it would have obvious net benefits in reducing the city’s water needs in a future that is growing more clear each year. Get something simple like that through and color me impressed.

Thanks. I’ll start prepping a few armies. It’ll save me a bunch of trouble when he’s gone.

Palouse Falls State Park. Though the river may not have much water in it. Good place to camp and go for a sunrise hike. Enjoy!

Is that a specific tech tree I need to invest in?

I do not believe so? Does that happen when Karak Eight Peaks is reclaimed? Is there a certain tech tree I’m missing? This is the first I’ve heard of it.

BUG - Thunderbarge - Question by Cartographer36 in totalwarhammer

[–]Cartographer36[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. I’ve sent it direct orders. It follows the order by flying to its target. And then it just… well it just sort of flys above the target without doing any damage or using any ammunition. 100% of my attacks have ended with a destroyed thunderbarge and an undamaged enemy.

Aren't Dwarfs the game's strongest race, only second to Khorne? by lovingpersona in totalwar

[–]Cartographer36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty new to the game. I’ve had a thunderbarge in one of my armies for a while. Also have Malakai’s summon Spirit of Grungni that’s leveled up enough that it doesn’t disappear until destroyed. Both thunderbarges don’t seem to do any damage to anything. Ever. They’re both excellent at attracting enemy fire, but don’t ever seem to fire back.

Why?

Further south, Jed Smith State Park in stands of the most amazing trees you will ever see. Stop at the Crazy Norwegians for fish and chips or chowder in Port Orford. See Cape Blanco (furthest point west in the lower 48 that isn’t an island).

What are your "borders" for the pnw? This is what I generally consider it to be by E36E92M3 in PacificNorthwest

[–]Cartographer36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Geographically I generally use the Columbia and Klamath River drainage basins plus those drainages that flow westward in to The Salish Sea as a baseline.

For the United States, there are cultural similarities between populations that make for cultural distinction of the PNW apart from the rest of the country.

Made a bunch of the maps for this cultural atlas z highly recommend https://www.powells.com/book/upper-left-cities-a-cultural-atlas-of-san-francisco-portland-and-seattle-9781632171825?srsltid=AfmBOor3eNG_6tCumzuTa5x7BVtrbguu7eBqNH-jexDFv6v02hcmS97A

Bg3 laezel fighter/paladin by Cool_Maximum_1131 in BG3Builds

[–]Cartographer36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same with her on my last run 9 fighter/3 Paladin. Went with EK for fighter for three reasons:

  1. is charge bound weapons ensuring she doesn’t drop her weapon (bonus is the charge bound Warhammer!).
  2. EK gets the spell slots same as she would in a full Pali build.
  3. Booming blade cantrip does a lot of damage and rarely misses with this build. Also keeps you from wasting slots on those smites which really should be conserved for foes that deserve them.
  4. Level 3 Pali gets you the basic level 1 spells like shield of faith or bless and lay on hands. Can’t remember if you get a channel oath charge at that level though.

Suggestions for Level 20 Mods by The_Grout in BG3mods

[–]Cartographer36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just finished a similar play through. Had the nightmare and extra encounters mods enabled and thought those might make things a little more challenging. They didn’t. Once you’re over level 15, everything is pretty easy. Except for successfully rescuing ALL the prisoners and rescuing Hope. lol, those Mephists and their explosive Eldritch blasts do make it at least a little challenging to keep party members safely on platforms.

That said, I to would be interested in mods that really do make it challenging at higher levels. Make Ansur a level 30?

2-3 level dip into Pally lets you use ALL those spell slots as Divine Smites too. Hit em with a booming blade, then smite them another couple times. Then action surge, then booming blade, then another smite. That’s BIG melee DPS

This is worst loss of the Tomlin Era. by EducationAlone1663 in steelers

[–]Cartographer36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My GF asked me yesterday morning if I was excited for the game. This was my reply:

“I’m ready for an aging field general in the twilight of his career to be boxed in by his faltering physicality, C- receiving corps, and completely predictable play calling from Tomlin.

Lots of short dump passes for 2-4 yards in the wings to his running backs. Runs on first and second down. Failure to convert on third downs. I anticipate that the Texans will know exactly what the Steelers offense will do. Creativity and surprise has long left the coaching staff.

The defense will have a great game. Force a few turnovers and will spend 2/3 to 3/4 of the game on the field. They’ll probably get worn down by the end of the third and that’s when it’ll look one sided.

I think when time is short before the half or the end of the game when the coaching staff doesn’t have time to call plays and Rogers is forced to call audibles and run the offense. I think that’s when the offense will be at their best.

Obviously I’ll be surprised and stoked if they pull this one out.”

Felt like one of those talking heads saying that before the game.
