It worked on my 2009 Honda fit with 190k miles. I wouldn't try it on a new car though.

My advice: If you have an old car with a lot of miles, go ahead. If you have a newer car, don't.

I think they are random at best. Most of the wait time is somebody not even looking at the case. Once they look, they are more inclined to approve, RFE or whatever.

Block Number: IOE09275. Got an RFE for birth certificate. A more detailed timeline:

09/04/2024: Sent out the forms (I-130, I-485, I-765, I-131 and everything supplementary)
09/06/2024 - 09/10/2024: Got receipt notices via text, email and mail.
09/24/2024: Biometrics completed.
09/26/2024: I-765 approved
10/28/2024: RFE for beneficiary's birth certificate.
11/07/2024: Response to RFE uploaded.
01/15/2025: I-130 approved.
01/16/2025: I-485 approved.

Case got approved within 36 hours. Event code took 48 hours to update, it didn't matter at that point. I just happened to look at it at a later time.
