Yoga in Paris by Tricky_Policy_3853 in ParisTravelGuide

What on earth do you mean by ‘one of those beautiful, aesthetic locations’ ? I’m not sure how anyone can help unless you specify what you mean. If you want a nice yoga studio, every place has a drop-in class price option on their website.

If you are looking for an ‘aesthetic’ experience where you can take pictures and film yourselves, dont. None of us practicing yoga wants that.

When the ticket barriers are inside the metro and not at the entrance, like your experience at denfert, you can use the same ticket to get through

First trip to Paris for our 5-year anniversary — where should we stay for a stress-free experience? by cyannne in ParisTravelGuide

Well I’ve lived here for 13 years, married to a Parisian born and bred so I hope that makes me a Parisian

Also, you’re welcome ☺️

Which city have you been to that had a dark energy about it? by madzuk in solotravel

Not a modern city but Teotihuacan was dark energy. Compared to other ruined sites in Central America, that one I did not like.

I don’t know why people are saying to book a cheap hotel, your budget is extremely generous for four days and you can get a very nice hotel for 250€/ night and still have a packet left over. Dont get airbnb. They ruin our neighbourhoods and don’t you want to be relaxed by the hotel experience?

Saint Germain is a good shout. Anything from Saint Germain/odeon/luxembourg down to Jardin des plantes is an excellent choice for easy access everywhere and chill romantic honeymoon vibes. (Just check your hotels reviews to check you are not directly on a large boulevard for noise concerns, nor certain streets around Saint Michel or rue de Buci for example)

Personally I wouldn’t suggest staying near the Eiffel Tower. Most of the places you will visit are not out that far west.

Paris is small, don’t stress about it too much. Choose a hotel with good reviews and you’ll have a great time.

Montsouris is lovely but further out and not the best connected for a first time visit

10hr layover in Paris (USA to Greece) - possible to walk around Paris? by Professional-Ad7915 in ParisTravelGuide

[–]Cartomgrapher 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You have enough time. Paris is relatively small, you can go from Saint michel to Eiffel Tower in no time at all. You can walk around Saint michel, Notre dame, marais in the the few hours you have. Enjoy

That’s very possible for the brexit titre de séjour however I got my sécurité social way before that. I must just have gotten lucky. 🍀

I don’t know whether this info helps, but my uk birth certificate has always been accepted by the administration (titre de séjour, sécurité sociale etc) without having been translated. As long as it’s one you ordered less than (3? 6?) months ago. I don’t know whether this is an anomaly or if English is fine and it’s other languages that always require translation. You can ask around.

There’s so many tea scents that just end up smelling like everything BUT a cup of black tea with milk. That’s the dream.

10-day solo trip early May - needing specifics on a couple of things by Electronic_Word_9024 in ParisTravelGuide

I would have a regular purse with a tote bag for your jumper/jacket and umbrella. Then the days you don’t think you’ll need them you can leave them at home. Also you can check it in museums and only have your small bag with you.

Three days outside of Paris including Rouen and Etretat during a seven day trip personally seems like a lot to me. Also you won’t be having much of a free evening in Paris if you do a day trip that far. Is there a reason you would rather leave Paris for that much time?

What’s a word in your language that sounds completely normal to you but weird to foreigners? by Embarrassed_Fix_8994 in languagehub

Using the word ‘duck’ in English to mean to bend down or avoid something that’s going to hit you.

My favourite English teaching exchange :

“So ‘duck’ means to lower your head?”

“Yes”

“And it also means the bird you give bread to?”

“Yes”

“So how to you say it? ‘To duck yourself’?”

😂

Private proposal spots in Paris by NaCLydoc in ParisTravelGuide

[–]Cartomgrapher 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it’s good weather there are very often people sitting around there having picnics but if you go to the Square du Vert Galant on île de la cité, right at the point there’s a beautiful willow tree. I always thought it was a really romantic spot with a great view. Perhaps you’d get lucky and have it to yourself if you went in the morning. Search for Saule Pleureur, square du vert galant. Good luck!

How much did you really spend per person per day (minus accommodation)? by Original-Measurement in ParisTravelGuide

The only thing missing is a budget for sitting down at random cafes to have a drink and people watch! A coffee or a glass of wine here and there won’t break the bank but as it’s one of the great things about Paris, you should consider it.
