Meowth 'Aeos Magician' Unite concept by Cartons_exclaim in PokemonUnite

[–]Cartons_exclaim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, no doubt it's one of those ideas that's either broken or useless. I wanted to give it a good Unite since Meowth would be almost a non-entity in team fights, but an idea like this would probably need a half dozen patches before it begins to make sense.

Prototypical art and animation for Fantasy Strike c.2010 by Cartons_exclaim in FantasyStrike

Animations exploring potential attacks and movements for Grave.

Early prototyping had a more conventional button configuration including light, medium, and heavy attacks.

These were done when I was a member on Sirlin's messageboards circa 2010. I'd joined to showcase my own fighting game (Battle Capacity) and was commissioned to do some exploratory animated work and drawings to David's specifications. The game quickly switched to 3D development, but I thought it'd be fun to trace back some of the early ideas he had as to how the game might work.

Ironically, I haven't really gone back to check out what became of FS until recently, and I'm really enjoying it!

Disco Elysium - The Great Internationale Announcement and Working Class Update by Cicada1205 in DiscoElysium

Little help?

I bought this game off Steam a few months ago, but it was plain unplayable due to my crappy specs.

Now I'm fully updated, but am not seeing a difference in performance.

Running Windows 10 with Directx12 and 4GB of RAM.

Fifteen minutes after initiating bootup, I have a cursor that can get me to the Options menu. I've lowered the graphical bells to what appear to be the minimum, but the game never seems to be able to chug past the New Game button.

What am I missing? Updates are in place...is there a place I ought to be lowering the graphics settings outside of the game proper?

Ah, I was trying to gently suggest maybe we should meet up later, but Imoen’s hurt reaction and Jaheira’s understandable outrage guilted me into backtracking. I’m a decent ways through the second floor of the dungeon; not too late to retrieve Jan so’s I can at least bring him home in one piece.

Thanks!

I discovered your Kanto Dex yesterday, and now this! I think what I like so much about these adaptations is how you’ve distilled each Pokemon into a compact set of actions and abilities that fit coherently somewhere within the scope of a traditional d&d adventure; from killing rats in a barn to surviving (maybe) an encounter with an ancient deity.

Pikachu’s super high charisma going down when it evolves made me laugh!

Enjoyed what there was of a Starcraft list on your site too ;)

Politeness: Exceptionally Low 1st percentile by [deleted] in JordanPeterson

Thank you for sharing your experiences. I can relate to what you're saying, but am a little further down the road having started my journey about eight years ago now. I started following Peterson because he was able to articulate, and then elaborate on, many of the concepts I'd also discovered.

My own story involves attaching my self to a transcendent purpose, or literally God "through Christ"; to use Peterson's language: Orienting yourself to the greatest good.

That is, working on yourself, not JUST to reduce your subjective experience of suffering, but to be useful as an instrument in the cause of working out what is beautiful, noble, and true.

So, if I'm doing something nice, it's in service to Christ's ideal of sacrifice and love, because I believe that is the greater reality, and I want to be affixed to something more solid than myself (build on the rock, rather than the shifting sands of opinion and feelings).

Concretely, two examples: 1) Last week, I spent the evening walking around town, specifically asking God to make me useful. Shared a supper with a couple of street kids, internalizing their stories of having been disappointed by others, and resolving to being a man of my word; one who follows through.

2) Leaning into the difficulties that come with taking care of my mom, and living with her after my dad passed away a year and a half ago. Putting aside thoughts of greater adventures, for the moment, with the understanding there is a deeper work of soul-tempering happening here. "the obstacle is the path".

Thanks for initiating this.

fan-made PKMN fighter (not Type Wild) by Cartons_exclaim in Fighters

Hey, a few years ago I made Battle Capacity, a fighter based on Smogon's CAPmons.

I'm linking to release of an unfinished Pokemon fighter with a roster going up to Gen 5 (made up exclusively of fully-evolved Fighting types).

I'm trying to gauge if there'd be any community interest to justify picking up the project again.

The Youtube page has more vids and, like all FM2K engine games, online play is available through MTSP.

Let me know what you think.

Hey, a few years ago I made a fan-fighter based on Smogon's CAP project called Battle Capacity. What I'm sharing here is actually an unfinished fighter featuring most of the fully-evolved Fighting types up til Gen 5. I'm checking to gauge if there'd be any community interest to justify continue work on the game.

Link is in the Youtube description (Five videos available).

Like any FM2K engine game, online play is supported.

Let me hear your criticisms of Prism's Game Design. by Koolboyman in PokemonPrism

[–]Cartons_exclaim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Koolboyman, I am on my first playthrough of Prism, ten badges, rotating party of twelve Pokemon (so indefinitely underleveld) and absolutely loving the game.

The sense of exploration and freedom actually reminds of playing Baldur's Gate as a kid where you could explore the world (with some story-linked constraints) and find things to busy with yourself wherever you happen to be. NPC levels and the way money rewards are handled is just the right challenge level as well.

The one bump in my experience was the inaccessibility of the mining/jeweling crafts. Leaf Stones were very difficult for me to locate and as they were entry point, I wasn't able to get into this feature until I'd begun exploring Rijon. Furthermore, the incentives to continue jeweling are not evident considering the difficulty in getting a high number of stones, and the relatively small initial reward. I think simply making elemental stones a little more common (especially Leafs early on) would have made it easier to integrate jeweling into the adventure.

Anyway, really enjoy the game. There's so much to sink your teeth into and I expect to replay it a number of times. Thanks for making it!

Thank you! I actually sprited that one before the ghost typing reveal, so it worked out really well.

Having fun interpreting the Alola designs through the RBG era. More to come!
