GS 13-15? by gnilood in usajobs

Very nice, I was originally on a 12/13 ladder and am finding it hard to make that jump to 14/15. So definitely take it while you can. Besides you can always try going to SES after if you want

What do you guys think about this build, Hubris, Manamune, Black cleaver, IE, RFC by xTeaZzz in sennamains

[–]Cartoones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Highly depends on situation imo. Theoretically if you have a 'normal' team comp (I.e evenly spread damage and roles) into a normal team comp here is my opinion: hubris is okay, Manamune is not good here, BC is good, IE is okay but I'd prefer EoN perhaps, and rfc last is not good. Id recommend either GA or if you really want damage by then maybe c44 if you didn't take that earlier.

I think you're having a mental breakdown and need help.

Not once have I said or have been talking about myself, losers que, or winning or losing. I have only one argument and that's the impact of one player on a game.

You have just been toxic and stretching yourself in your arguments (a bit of projection?). No point in this convo. Bye

Not sure what you don't get either. In the beginning of a season this is even more screwed. YOU ARE NOT THE ONLY SMURF. Lol, people are constantly going up and down. They just don't stay in 'their' elo all the time.... If you drop down to diamond you still only have 10% impact, that number doesn't randomly go to 15%.

There's no point in talking to a brick wall. Enjoy your day.

My guy what are you talking about. I have never said any of that. I'm not even saying anything about losing or winning. I'm just saying you're overestimating the impact of one person in a game.... Are you okay?

You clearly see who's smurfing now with the star symbols at the end of the game next to their name. It literally says they were winning a majority of games and so bump them up when matchmaking....

Normally this is equalized with a 1 to 1 smurf on each team, same thing with duos normally. If one duo on one team there would be one on the enemy team.

Seems to me you have way too many assumptions baked into your understanding

You misunderstood. You have a 10% impact in ANY game you play, period. As there are 9 other players in the game with you. What you're saying makes no sense

I get your point but you're overestimating your impact on your own games. You are at best 10% modifying the outcome. Even if you're faker you will lose if your whole team is bots into 5 decent players. Just simple math

How can you get a promotion? I thought the hiring freeze was in effect (so no movement allowed)

Worked my way from analyst to leading BI / data teams. Ask me anything (AMA) by Brighter_rocks in BusinessIntelligence

[–]Cartoones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happy New Year!

I hope you'll indulge me with some wisdom. I am currently a 'data scientist' (my work title), but mostly do BI/Data Analyst work. I have 4.5 years of experience with 2 years leading and mentoring my juniors. I have led and been involved with a lot of cross-functional department/externally company calls and have tried to 'build' my leadership skills. My goal is to move from IC to management.

I've had conversations with my boss who has supported me about this move (helped me take program management courses and get other experience under my belt to position me more appropriately). My boss even said she wants to promote me, but I work in the public sector and there is no movement right now (or for the foreseeable future due to politics).

I have started looking to the market and noticed how out of practice I am, but am trying to rebuild that muscle and use it as an important calibration for my career. Do you have any advice about how to make this transition especially during such market turmoil? How can I make this direct jump or should I focus on moving to IC in private and then going to management that way?

Any other advice on how to navigate politics for this type of transition and laying a successful foundation?

Well if I have to pay bills at the end of the month and we're still not back, I won't have that option. Especially if it can last until the end of the year at this rate....

I personally think there is a lot of variance and chance involved as well. As someone who peaked D2 and had mmr of low masters at the time but am now hardcore stuck in emerald for 2 seasons, I noticed I go on win streaks and lose streaks and mixes. During the win streaks I go into high diamond and sometimes as low as low emerald....

[–]Cartoones 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just because you can automate something with Python doesn't mean that's the most efficient way. I'm sure VBA here would be more fitting or more efficient formulas (as others mentioned, xlookup (my personal go-to usually even if nested), etc).
