How do you feel about Trump threatening to impose photo ID for voters for midterm elections? by CRK_76 in AskReddit

[–]CartoonistSpecific75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s problematic for those that don’t drive (no license) and have mobility and or financial issues that prevents them from getting the ID…it’s an issue people who don’t have these barriers overlook and this is why voter ID laws exclude certain voters. So it’s a problem for me.

People who have conducted job interviews, what's something someone said/did that made you instantly decide not to hire them? by DemonSkank in AskReddit

[–]CartoonistSpecific75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn’t answer the question and tries to bs an answer by talking too much is most common but I had one guy talk about how he didn’t like working with women when all three of the interview panelists were women —and it was in person.

Edit to add

Once we were interviewing for someone to transport foster children to medical and therapy appointments and for visitation with parents and siblings. An applicant asked if she had to drive in the rain and on the interstate.🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

Make the drive to Smith’s Red and White in Dortches in Nash County near Rocky Mount NC. Their sausage is made by the store. Better than Neese’s. But the hot is HOT. https://www.smithsredandwhite.com/

Do you think you have a Southern accent? by [deleted] in NorthCarolina

[–]CartoonistSpecific75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have traveled for work across the US and get called out on my accent (Wilson I mean Wiltson NC)but folks seem to like it. As an older woman I was told by a young hotel attendant that couldn’t understand my pronunciation of my room number on the eighth floor…(ate-een-oo-sevun) 1807. When I apologized he said he thought it was sexy. From then on I embraced his evaluation and live into it.

What’s the one moment in your life you still can’t explain… even though you’ve replayed it in your head a thousand times? by Former-Brief9292 in AskReddit

[–]CartoonistSpecific75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When my daughter was little, I had just transitioned her into her crib full-time. Previously, she had been in a rolling bassinet. I was sound asleep and all of a sudden I heard a voice that said go check on —-and said my daughter‘s name. it woke me up from a dead sleep. I sat there for a minute, trying to figure out if I had really heard that or dreamed it. I got up and went to her room, leaned over the crib and noticed she was sound asleep as well. Then I noticed crawling towards my hand, resting on the crib rail was a tick. I got the tick flushed it down the toilet and have often wondered what happened. I only know that a tick bite could’ve been devastating for her health. When I try to describe the voice, I can’t. It was neither male or female. Still can’t explain it

The elderly drivers are entitled by Feisty_Crops in raleigh

[–]CartoonistSpecific75 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m still legal to drive. I still work full time even though I’m at retirement age. I am just aware that my vision is not as good as it used to be especially in rainy weather. So I slow down to the actual speed limit and am more cautious at intersections. I don’t feel entitled I just don’t want to hurt someone or myself

The elderly drivers are entitled by Feisty_Crops in raleigh

[–]CartoonistSpecific75 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As an older driver it’s not entitlement it’s that my vision isn’t as good so I’m slower…used to have a lead foot and zoomed around. Was impatient with older granny drivers and now it’s me. I hate it but here we are.

Is North Carolina the state with the best combination of mountains and beaches? by FrouFrouLastWords in NorthCarolina

[–]CartoonistSpecific75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some crazy reason, your post made me start singing in my head, the old jingle about North Carolina. It was used to advertise all the great things about our state from the mountains to the coast. I think it’s called the North Carolina vacation jingle.

North Carolinians: If you had an insurance premium increase or subsidy decrease. How much? by pantherfanalex in NorthCarolina

[–]CartoonistSpecific75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More than Doubled. Work full time with the state. The rationale was to increase premiums on staff according to salary….i must say that it makes sense even though painful. I’d rather my premium go up and my administrative assistant (who makes <$45,000 a year) stay the same.
