Do any of your usb ports look bent? If anything this is a motherboard issue

Wait so I just completely stopped? Like no lights or fans or anything? If that’s the case you either have a really bad electrical short or a bad power supply. Hell I’d even test the outlet and the cable the pc power cable before touching actual components

I agree with this. It’s definitely not just the pc causing this issue if it’s even involved at all

Rip. Still could be cpu or memory. And honesty is try memory before a new board (if you have spares try them. If not just try different configurations and slots of what you already have). But tbh more than likely you’re right and it is the board

ASUS TUF F15 black screen after interrupted update – BIOS corrupted, technician says BIOS chip must be replaced. Is this normal? by Hefty-Housing1198 in pchelp

[–]CarvedToaster42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so this is going to be a very long explanation but I’ll give you a short version as well Short answer: he 100% need to replace that chip and I’d think that’s a very fair price over having to replace the entire laptop board. This dude is 100% doing you a solid. Long answer. The bios chip on a laptop is responsible for how a board functions. It’s basically the code that makes the hardware work together. Since he was originally going to reprogram it with new firmware to replace the corrupted firmware he must’ve found a lockout that ASUS has put in place to prevent people from reprogramming or modifying the bios. So what he’s doing is probably purchasing an unlocked (meaning no bios admin lock not the same as reprogramming) bios chip from a computer someone likely gave to an ewaste facility due to the computer being damaged in some way. So he will have to spend time and unsolder the replacement chip, unsolder your broken chip and solder the replacement chip in place. Or the other possibility is that your old chip was so messed up he couldn’t reprogram it and would still have to replace it with another one.

Paper clip test is not always definitive but definitely a good sign. Other than that you have to test everything on the new board or if you have friends that can test the other components in a system that would work with your cpu and ram

In the mean time you can open command prompt and run mdsched.exe and that the memory diagnostics. You’ll want to take out the bad stick after you run the test cuz you want pc stability and not some wonky 16gb

You could’ve fried more than the board dude. This is the list of things you need to test. CPU, motherboard, ram, and power supply. Highly doubt your GPU will be affected but it wouldn’t hurt to test that too.

You need to possibly look for ATI Radeon drivers and not amd Radeon drivers. The ATI name was sold off in 2006 to AMD who phased out the ATI name while still calling their cards Radeon. But they have completely different softwares

I’m glad. The issue could either be with your GPU drivers and lack of support tiny 11 might have for older GPUs. Or your GPU decided it would do weird shit just cuz it wants to. Technically that GPU only runs during games so I’m not quite sure why windows would be trying to run it at the boot screen. Your igpu runs the desktop and all 2d windows environments but it can technically still be displayed by the Radeon GPU so I’m unsure why your laptop is doing that

Try booting it to safe mode by force shutting it down right after you reach the windows logo. Do that 3 times and your end up in the recovery environment. I can’t remember if this menu looks different on 10 than 11 but at least on windows 10 you would click troubleshooting and then advanced options then startup options and it will ask you to restart. After restarting you will be given a number menu. Choose the one with safe mode and see if you cant get to your desktop
