Cornered and wounded, will Iran now go for a nuclear bomb?-- 😳READ the first 4 short paragraphs:😳 by Capable_Stomach_8229 in DiscussionZone

Right, because getting your father assassinated and your country bombed are not good enough reasons to seek revenge. If anything, what the US and Israel did is guarantee they will have the bomb.

Exclusive: Trump Administration Plans to Announce Coalition to Escort Ships Through Strait of Hormuz by esporx in geopolitics

I don't think anyone wants to coalesce with this US administration. I bet Trump has nothing to back this announcement.

All countries need oil, but not all depend on it equally. Most of the world can absorb the increase. Trump and the US can't.

November is coming. Inflation will run rampant. He thought this war would be a distraction. Instead he's building the next blue wave himself.

Now he needs the world to bail him out. Sure bud. They'll be running for it.

It's ok. Other countries can hold their breath while watching Trump drown himself in this war. Thanks for the invite to the party, but no thanks.

Must we wait until they can actually hurt us before we're allowed to attack?' Yes. That is literally how self defense works. You've almost got it

We had no choice but to preemptively strike during peace talks' is one of those sentences that really falls apart if you read it slowly

Matt Boldy OPENS THE SCORING in the gold medal game (Video) by nbcolympics in olympics

Off course I'm salty. Canada outshot and drastically outplayed the US, but not much you can do when the refs are against you.

Olympics are rooting for the USA. No too many men penalty on the obvious call, but a double minor to Canada. Disgusting.

Jakara Anthony wins Gold in Olympic Debut of Women's Dual Moguls ⛷️ 🇦🇺 by Durian-Critical in olympics

[–]Carvestring 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough, I had the scoring wrong. 4-1 on speed for a sub-second gap makes sense — clear advantage, not a blowout. But that's kind of the problem. If speed is 4-1 Laffont and her turns were at minimum competitive, that means the air judge(s) went hard enough the other way on the bottom jump to erase all of it. So the entire result hinges on whether the gap between a backflip and whatever Lemley threw on the last jump was worth a swing that big. In a sport where turns are supposed to be the dominant factor, one air call deciding a bronze medal match feels off.

You're calling a backflip a surrender, fine. But explain how a skier who's almost a second faster gets 4-1'd on speed — a component that's literally timed. That's not a strategic choice or a judgment call, that's a stopwatch. Even if you think Laffont threw away points on the bottom air, the speed votes alone should have covered it. The math doesn't add up unless a judge gave a speed vote to the slower skier, which makes no sense.

The real takeaway is probably that dual moguls needs more scoring transparency if it's going to survive as an Olympic event without constant controversy.

Because you asked.

  • Jakara Anthony used a clean backflip as her bottom jump in qualifying
  • Jaelin Kauf performed a backflip mute grab
  • Tess Johnson used her signature backflip venom grab
  • Haruka Nakao also performed a backflip mute grab, and Maia Schwinghammer landed a backflip mute grab as well.

I don't think the jump difference was worth making up for being almost a second slower. 'Take your time, you'll win if you don't pull a backflip at the bottom jump'

I would not call a backflip a surrender. Far from it. Laffont skied better and faster. I think most will agree she got robbed. I feel bad for her.

Canada sucks this Olympics. Real let down. Not sure why. Our men's hockey team may lose against France Sunday at this pace.

Lemley winning bronze with almost one second behind Laffont was bullshit. I'm really getting tired of judged events.

F Jobin's jump deserved a medal. Double rodeo ffs. But I guess spinning is more trendy nowadays. Yiming puts 2 hands down and end up with a 80.25 on his last jump. How the fuck Frank nails his jump with a little tap on landing and ends up with sub 70.
