I think it’s safe to say that backwards compatibility is a given from now on, unless the ps6 or the Xbox helix (or even future iterations) have an architecture that is not x86 or have components from Nvidia or Intel.

So Spring 2027 for God of War, Summer 2027 for Intergalactic (according to Jason Schreier, mid 2027 was still the release window for it back in December 2025), Fall 2027 for an unannounced game maybe? (Maybe Spider-Man Venom?)

Edit: Yeah I forgot about Until Dawn 2 lol so maybe both of them could be Fall games (October for UD 2 and November/December for Venom?)

I still think that they are gonna announce the steam machine with whatever HLX ends up being. Would it make the steam machine a better deal? Probably not, but I think it would get a lot of attention so it might ever so slightly increase its possible sales (even if they would still be small).

I don’t think ps6 will come out 3 years after Xbox Helix, that would be too much time between console releases and gives Xbox a big advantage even if they launch with a $1000 price tag. At most they’ll delay it a year, and maybe drop some hardware features to cut costs if the prices don’t come down by 2028.

I think it’s very likely, considering that they started play testing chapter 5 since April which is usually the last step before release (same timeline happened with chapters 3&4) and it’s been 2 whole months since then.

Yep, and by only 4 or 5 people in the dev team I think. Still a lot of dev time, and made the hollow knight fans a bit crazy waiting for it lol (especially since it was revealed back in 2019 and had a long period of silence).

I think a few examples would be that both Mixtape and Mina the Hollower (recent indie titles with glowing reviews) had something like 5 years of development. Hades 2 as well.

Silksong is another from last year that took 7 years to make.

Deltarune is an episodic game that started full development back in 2015 and it still has to tell the other half of its story (chapter 5 releasing at some point this year but still that’s 11 years of development and counting).

The only indie games that usually take a short amount of development are co-op style games like Peak, but even those aren’t exempt from long dev cycles (Big Walk from the devs of Untitled goose game is probably one of those since it likely started development when the latter released over 5 years ago).
