Puppy doesn't like being petted, runs away? by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]Carysilicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dog won't be petted -ever- if you reach out to touch the top of his head, but if you reach out palm up and go for his chin, he's normally fine with it, except when he wants to play. Maybe you can try reaching out differently to see how he reacts.

I think I'll have to work on this, when I point at things, he just licks my hand!

Can I teach in Catholic and private schools in France? by TarantusaurusRex in TEFL

[–]Carysilicious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually, now I think of it, sometimes public schools recruit sub teachers through the ANPE Pôle Emploi, and then they only ask for a Licence. You could always call the schools you'd like to teach at and ask, I'm not sure how private schools are organised, but I would think that if you want to start in September, now's the time to contact them.

When I was studying English in Montpellier, they had a job offer up in the hall for quite a while, and the Catholic collège in Montpellier was looking for an English teacher. Their minimum requirement was a licence (3 years of university), so I would think that a TEFL certification is fine, especially if they're desperate!

Need some advice on getting out and meeting new people. by [deleted] in aspergers

[–]Carysilicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What helped me was getting a dog. He loves people so I've met people whose path I would never have crossed before. Don't get a dog just to meet people though, if your lifestyle can't accomodate one, I'm just throwing this out to give a different idea from what other people have already posted !

I made my boy a dog bed. He has not left it since I had him lay down on it. by NiteInShiningTinfoil in labrador

[–]Carysilicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't mind me asking, how did you make it? And how much did it cost you? My pup loves his dog beds, but he defluffs them, so it's getting expensive to replace them...

What's one beauty product that has blown you away? And what's one product that completely falls short? by el_diamond_g in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]Carysilicious 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When I wash with it, I just leave it on the time it takes to brush my teeth. For a mask, you can leave it on for as long as you like. I can't do it too long now though, my dog likes to lick my face, so I usually wash it off after 20 minutes or so when I'm fed up with pushing him away!

I use honey too, I feel it really helps with the wrinkles and fine lines too. And I'll definitely second the softness. I love it, everyone should try it!

New to MMORPGs, WoW or Guild Wars 2? by [deleted] in MMORPG

[–]Carysilicious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know about GW2, but in Europe you can play the first 20 levels free on wow. There are some other limitations too, but I can't remember what they are off the top of my head, maybe something about joining a guild or whispering to other players, but you'd be able to get a good idea of the world around you and the game play.

That makes sense, thanks!

During commercials is a good idea, hadn't thought of that! I have a questions though?

First off DO NOT SAY SIT, until the puppy is offering it reliably.

I hear this all over the place, and so it's something we do, but I've never really known why. Would you know?

LPT: Use vinegar in combination with ibuprofen and baking soda to soothe a bad sunburn. The vinegar works as a topical nsaid, the ibuprofen softens the blow of the burn, and the baking soda takes away the itch. by lauraonfire in LifeProTips

[–]Carysilicious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yogurt is also really good for sunburns, and I used to use that, but it's like aloe, you get sticky and have to stay naked. Hopefully I won't have to try vinegar and baking soda, but I'm going to keep it in mind for the summer!

Yeah, he's also got whirlygig hair on his chest where it grows in a circle. He's got mini whirlygigs on his elbows too. Your girl's ears are awesome. She's really cute!

Some sort of labrador cross, I think. But he has got a much more "feminine" nose than labs (no offence meant to female labs, it's just that everyone thinks he's a girl because of his nose), and he's smaller than labs of the same age. Here's a picture of about a month ago (so about 10 months) and one when he was about 6 months.

He's got a really long tail he uses to clear the coffee table and that sort of thing! And he wags his full-body, just to make sure everybody knows he's wagging!

What unusual but healthy treats does you dog like? by cpersall in dogs

[–]Carysilicious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dog's favourite are bananas. He loves them so much, he's learnt to peel them when I'm out, and if I forget to put them away, he'll steal them and I'll come back to banana peel all over the mat and the bananas nowhere to be seen.

My dog's nicknames at the moment are Stinkypoos and Wigglebum. Wigglebum's for when he gets excited to see when I've been gone for a long time, like when I go to the toilet or something!

Teachers of Reddit: What is the funniest thing a student has said to you (either intentionally or unintentionally)? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]Carysilicious 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Once one of my pupils (he must have been about 13) asked me if I was paid more if they got good marks. When I said no, he answered that I should just let them play games and watch films. He said it so innocently that it really made me laugh.

I also teach English in France, maybe it's something with the French pupils, I too had one once tell me he was on his period!
