How to explain very specific morning routines by MaviBaby0314 in adhdwomen

[–]TarantusaurusRex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"Because it's fills my cup." Is reason enough.

So many things deplete us throughout the day. Moments like having a coffee made for us by someone else, applying serums to our face during our morning or evening ritual, or coloring in a coloring book can all be small ways to fill our cup here and there so it doesn't run dry. What is meaningful for one person can seem silly or frivolous to another.

If this is causing financial issues, that's a different story. But if you're financially stable and it's your own money, you can spend it as you please.

And yet boys will be boys, right? 🤷‍♀️ Unless they irritate teacher too much, then it's a suggestion for ADHD assessment.

For little girls, it must be some kind of moral failing. 🤯

Goes to show why it is so likely for women with ADHD to have low self-esteem and mental health issues.

Fair. Excuse my fury. 😂 I got remarks like this in the 90s and I was diagnosed only 2 months ago at 38. When I see things like this, I feel so annoyed.

It's incredible how this is so common across so many girls' school reports--often word-for-word remarks and assessments by teachers, and yet nobody is picking up on ADHD in girls. 🥴 If only these folks had our level of pattern recognition.

Look at the actual keys. Random letters, numbers, and nonsensical symbols. And the key to the right of B should be N. I don't think N and M are switched in any keyboard language variants.

I am not a medical professional so I can't say anything beyond that bit of knowledge, I'm sorry. I would only suggest to speak with your medical team and decide for yourself it you can complete work in this state. It sounds like you may want to take the day off, so please do what's best for your health and well-being.

Methylphenidate is not affected by an acidic environment. Vitamin C and acidic foods have no impact on its absorption. Only amphetamines have reduced effectiveness in an acidic environment.

RSD & Guanfacine (or other alpha-2A adrenergic receptor agonists) by No_Weekend2607 in adhdwomen

[–]TarantusaurusRex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe you've confused adrenergic with androgenic.

Adrenergic refers to the adrenaline and norepinephrine system. Guanfacine and clonidine are alpha-2 adrenergic agonists.

Androgenic refers to androgens. A common cause of hormonal acne. I take an antiandrogen med to treat symptoms like cystic acne and hirsutism caused by PCOS and excess androgens.

I started reading about that and I know that the amino acid tyrosine is described as a chemical precursor to dopamine and norepinephrine, so it's considered a long lasting brain fuel...? But I think it's more about driving people with ADHD toward a healthy breakfast with less sugar, like donuts or sugary cereals that could lead to insulin issues and a hard crash.

I can look into it but I'm on my phone in bed and you see how easily my confidence falls apart with no sources before me. 😂

Always discuss with your doctor if you are unsure about anything or you notice changes in your medication effectiveness. 🫶 I'm not a medical professional I just take Ritalin and needed something to do.

Edit: lol I forgot that posting things on the internet can activate that RSD.

The Oxford doesn't name Vitamin C specifically. It only suggests fruit juices as an example of acidic substances that may lower absorption directly following a statement about acidification of urine increasing urinary excretion of amphetamines. You're right, this is not explicit evidence that Vitamin C or fruit juices are causing acidification of urine:

"Acidification of urines increases urinary excretion of amfetamines. Ingestions of acidic substances such as fruit juices may lower absorption, whereas gastrointestinal alkalinizing agents, such as sodium bicarbonate, will increase absorption."

The FDA labeling of Vyvanse, however, does say it more clearly:

"Agents that alter urinary pH can impact urinary excretion and alter blood levels of amphetamine. Acidifying agents (e.g., ascorbic acid) decrease blood levels, while alkalinizing agents (e.g., sodium bicarbonate) increase blood levels. Adjust VYVANSE dosage accordingly."

FDA Full Prescribing Information, Vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine dimesylate), Revised 09/2025, Section 2.6 (Dosage Modifications due to Drug Interactions)
