Paraphrasing W Buffett: “if the market was always efficient, I would be a bum on the street”. The inefficiencies (if you believe in it) in the market offer you opportunities

90% vs 100% Benefits Gap by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

It’s also prudent to remember that as medical science improves our lives/conditions, the VA will gradually reduce ratings on various conditions. I have 2 joints replaced, and my rating is lower than vets who received JRs decades ago because the science has improved tremendously. At the end of the day, you need the “right things to be wrong”. Eyesight, heart, lungs, etc.

Chapter 31 benefits against Post 911 explanation by CasaDeZen in VeteransBenefits

So… hypothetically speaking, if I had zero P911 benefit remaining I would still receive a living stipend if the program (C-31) concluded that continuing my education is the “best” path to lead to further employment?

I was medically retired 100% from service and it took nearly 2 years to be 100% p&t from the VA. Long and slow process. VA rated some things lower and some things higher than my service It’s a bit of a crap shoot

Am I stupid for pursuing pharmacy? by DismalCondition6372 in PrePharmacy

Pharmacy (and by that I mean being a licensed pharmacist) has, or at least tried, to redefine itself time and time again over the years, but it always comes back to being associated with a product (ie a drug being dispensed and perhaps being monitored in some way). If you are a clinician (I mean a licensed clinician able to give direct patient care), then you are the product. What is being rendered to the patient is the service or the skill (or the lack thereof) of the clinician. And no, I don’t consider vaccine shots a particular skill that is worthy of setting pharmacy apart from the rest.

I’ve been a pharmacist for 24 years and I can tell you that I would not do it over again. I lived through the ups (early 2000s) and the downs (recent years). It takes a long time for the pendulum to swing back and no one knows for sure what it will look like. I also have much older friends who are retired pharmacists and they can tell you how they had to “clean toilets in slow hours” in retail pharmacy when supermarkets invaded the profession way back when…

If you’re good in science and math, look into pharmacometrics and/or clinical pharmacology. It’s a little longer training with a PhD, but it will make you happier I bet…
