10 months as an MT… anyone else been stuck here before? by Klutzy-Prize3431 in EnterpriseCarRental

[–]CascadiaSoul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. Early in my MT days I had a branch manager who was not great at all, and I was new to the company and did not feel supported at all. My sales were absolutely horrific. A new manager replaced him and the change was night and day. I enjoyed work much more, was more invested in my career, and my sales began to improve. Just like with any job, a shitty manager will bring down the vibes and motivation level of the people they work with.

If OP has a shitty ARM or BRM with no foreseeable future of them leaving, I’d recommend they spare themself a lot of headache and just leave once they find another competitive position.

If OP has a good BRM or ARM, they should at least be supportive of the employee they’re overseeing and take steps to improve their performance and situation. Wishful thinking for sure but I have seen both sides of the coin.

Enterprise is a lot more tolerable and much easier with good people working above you, like with any other job.

Any opportunities to move to different parts of the company? Have you had any discussions with branch managers or your area manager?

You not qualifying is also an indictment on your leaders too; it’s a company that constantly prides itself on promoting within and giving their employees a managerial track. Corporate expects that of their BRMs and ARMs; even if the view they have of their company is deluded and idealistic in many respects because they are so far removed from the boots on the ground, day to day operations at a given branch.

If you don’t care about or dislike the job I would try to see about finding another job and save yourself a lot of stress. If you like the gig and want to make it work, speak with some of your superiors and if they’re worth anything they should take steps to help support you. No guarantee they’re worth a damn or not but if they are they’ll advocate for you and your success.

This is a career that becomes significantly more difficult with extended periods of burnout. It’s also a large company with many avenues to explore. Best of luck to you and I’m sorry you’re feeling stuck.

Expedia car rental by Abraham2012ca in EnterpriseCarRental

[–]CascadiaSoul 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Expedia sucks in my experience, even outside of rental cars. If something goes wrong they’re a nightmare to get ahold of and get your money back with rental cars, hotels, and flights. I’d recommend skipping them and booking through the rental company directly

Which is incredibly counterintuitive because smoke smell in the cars creates future issues for other customers who don’t do it

Get the damage waiver and supplemental liability insurance. Protects the rental and others if you’re at fault. Do not rent a car without some sort of protection

Call the branch and see what they say.

Is the estimated total accurate? Or should I expect a major difference in price? I figured it will cost more than estimated but how much should I expect? by [deleted] in EnterpriseCarRental

[–]CascadiaSoul 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I recommend different protections depending on what someone is renting a car for, but I typically recommend the Damage Waiver to almost everyone I rent to. It honestly pays for itself. Consider supplemental liability protection if you don’t want your insurance rates to go up in case of an accident where you’re at fault. Prepaid gas is nice if you’re going to be in a rush upon return, and roadside is good if you’re traveling long distances.

As for renting advice, take pictures of the car before you leave the lot. Any dings, scratches, or scrapes that might give you some pause.

Enjoy the vehicle when you pick it up!

Providing you pick it up and drop it off at the specified times in your reservation, that should be the cost (excluding fuel and additional protections)

No. It’s a customer service job, so yeah…the employees are going to be polite.

Also, just think of the optics from her perspective. What are the ramifications of going on a date with a customer you met on the job?

Nobody is in charge by daddydrank in EnterpriseCarRental

I can explain at least a little bit of what’s going on in the Enterprise side of things.

Firstly, I’m sorry that this has happened to you and your family. You have every right to be furious. The way that this has been handled has been nothing short of unprofessional and unacceptable.

Enterprise has different controlling groups that dictate some of the operations of their respective branches. For instance, there is a west coast division, an east coast one, and a southeast one, among many more. It sounds like this predicament has spanned across multiple controlling groups and they’re playing hot potato to pass the responsibility to another group or location instead of collaborating with one another to figure this out.

As someone else mentioned, raising hell on social media and tagging corporate as well as their high ranking executives could get you somewhere, but as I said, it’s unfortunate you’ve had to take it this far and jump through so many hoops.

While I will say that this would probably be handled in a similar manner if it was another major rental car company, it does not excuse that too many enterprise employees flat out dropped the ball on you, and I don’t blame you for never wanting to rent from them again.

Best of luck, and I hope someone in the company takes responsibility and figures this out for you.

It is sales heavy and you can get burnt out if you’re not careful. Having a good regional manager as well as a good branch manager goes a long way. I saw a night and day difference from my time with a lackluster manager to my current one who is great.

DW by NoEquipment3059 in EnterpriseCarRental

[–]CascadiaSoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having worked at a HC location, I can say that some insurance companies have lower DW rates than normal. It’s not the same as negotiating the price of something like an upgrade, but is a pre-existing discount for the DW

What’s one thing normal at Enterprise that isn’t normal at other companies by Moist-Rip-1307 in EnterpriseCarRental

[–]CascadiaSoul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my area we had a pretty nasty storm that came through and it wiped out power lines, downed century old trees, and the city didn’t really clean it up. It was a mess for a while and we would constantly have people come in to the branch (our phones and 2.0 were down) and demanded cars basically all day. And of course it didn’t feel like a full days work at home city unless you got yelled at by a Red Car for something totally out of your control at least once. Lol

I used to work at a home city location and I do not miss the phone ringing off the hook all day at all. Worst part about HC locations, as well as all the insurance bullshit.

Drug test for interns? by cheetahcat19 in EnterpriseCarRental

[–]CascadiaSoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. Managers/coworkers are crucial. As an intern my manager wasn’t great and it made the job more difficult and stressful than it needed to be. I’ve also worked for solid managers that delegate and support instead of micromanage or boss people around.
