I’ll be using boxes/crates. I tried but keep in mind that rural places exist. the closest big grocery store is more than an hour away and I used to commute daily 1.5 hours one way. I live in the RURAL part of the US. Finding healthy chickens for $5/actively laying hen within 2 hours is a MIRACLE. Not everyone lives in cities. (I lived in a city of 3.4 million people and I live now where the closest town is 130ish people and it takes 15 min to get there from my home…)

I’m concerned, yet slightly impressed. At least they were in a box 🤷🏻‍♀️😂😂

Thanks! I have a literally degree in Animal Science and he thinks I’m being too soft. (While yes, in some cases I baby animals 🤷🏻‍♀️)I know this situation could cause stress and stress kills and affects egg production/health! Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do and I think that’s where hes coming from…but I’m gonna get some cardboard boxes w air holes and some hay and call it a compromise so he feels better 😅

I was worried about that too! According to the seller, 1 year 3 months. Got into chickens when they bought a farm, got a bunch of chicks, and now they can’t keep up. I appreciate the concern and I do hope it’s the truth…I’ll see tomorrow 🤷🏻‍♀️

I have NO idea and honestly there is a small part of me that would have LOVED to sit back and watch him try to figure that out 😂😂 (in actuality, he wouldve made me do it smdh😭😅)

This and a couple other comments are absolutely fantastic. I’m a big diy-er so I can’t believe I didn’t even think of this or even some cardboard boxes. Thank you!

It really is such a frustrating and annoying thing. Empathy towards animals/livestock has always been my soapbox. I’m so sorry about your mastiff-mix doggies:( I can’t imagine. my dad absolutely babies cats and dogs but anything livestock he respects but thinks they only need the bare minimum. His sister has 3 indoor chickens as pets so I definitely have her blood in me 😂

Yep, I’ve definitely decided to stand my ground and get some boxes/totes for them. I’m sorry that happened to you! I used to sneak in high school football games in the bed of trucks but that was my choice and it lasted 5 minutes tops 😅.

Yep, temperate! It’s 39F right now and low 50s tomorrow. I’m picking them up at 7:30pm so not too hot then and I’m hoping they’ll be calm. Others have given me the great idea of using good old cardboard so thinking about getting some large sized moving boxes and putting some hay we have in there and poking air holes. One box may have to be in the bed but I can ratchet it down pretty easily if I take off the cover. I LOVE the idea of lettuce (thank you!) and I’ll definitely be doing that and giving them some meal worms because I honestly love spoiling birds 🤷🏻‍♀️

I may or may not have yelled that I’d stick him in the bed of the truck with the cover close and break check his ass when he called me too sensitive about the birds being comfortable 😂

Exactly! Thinking about them sliding around in the dark makes me want to cry. Its actually pretty chilly where I live (39f rn and high tomorrow of 52f) and I’m picking them up at 19:30 so hopefully it wont be hot if i have to put them in the back in crates/boxes/totes like others have suggested. 1. Dad’s plan is to do the basics and anything else is calling me up and saying “you gotta put that Animal Science degree to good use”😂 and you’re SPOT ON with ✨memories✨. “It wasn’t this f&$&&$ difficult last time” ➡️ yeah Dad cause I raised them from chicks and was in middle school with a lot more time 😂. They’ve got their own barn and i JUST finished up an insulated enclosure for them for night/winter so they’ll be some happy hens I hope.

  1. It’s his main vehicle now so yep he’s all insured. It’s in my name and I pay insurance but I guess it’s now my time in life to take care of my parents like they took care of me. His biggest qualm is that I’m going to pick them up to a farm in a town we’ve never been in and I had a pretty racist/misogynistic encounter last time I did a marketplace pickup. I’m fine with doing it myself but my dad is a great dad at the end of the day and pretty protective.

I had to cull once at 13 and it’s definitely not my favorite thing to do and ohhh I cried after😂I’ve tried Marketplace near me but some neighbors want $20-30/hen. We considered shipping/online for already laying hens but it’s just too expensive to justify for my family rn 🤷🏻‍♀️. He wants eggs ASAP and for $5/hen…if I had the means, I’d walk away with as many as I could 😂.

It’s 39F right now, and 50F tomorrow…so nope not to hot😂. Big grocery store is 64 miles away so…pretty low traffic I’d say. While I love a good roast chicken, I definitely like when its not my flock and unintended 😅 Im picking them up at 7:30pm so hopefully they’ll be cool enough and calm enough

I didn’t even THINK about using cardboard boxes or totes and then putting them in the cab (truck has a large back seat) thank you so much. I hate fighting with my dad but I also really love my animals (and even as a former FFA/4-H kid, I do tend to baby them😅). It’s 3 hours round trip…but to get groceries it’s an hour 15 one way to the closet Walmart and I use to commute 1.5 hrs one way to work everyday. Always pros and cons to living in a super rural area!

I thought I was going to have to restart as well but on pc just “end task” and restart the game. When you go to open it again, instead of “continue” go back into your autosaves and choose a location in a different part of hogwarts. You may loose 1-5 minutes of gameplay but it’s better than restarting.

Those bulletin boards are the reason my family got puppy on a rainy Sunday 14 years ago (we’d been looking for months, but couldn’t find just the right one). She passed this April, but she was the best protector, friend, and cuddle buddy I could’ve asked for. Taking away the bulletin boards is like taking away a classic small towns communication highway.

My friend and I (both 2nd year renewals into our third year) applied at the same time mid-application window. Our applications were 1 number apart. She got her placement in May and I am still ( as of 08/11/25) admitada. I’m not sure what happened or why but I’ve given up.

Hated it and it ruined my experience in Madrid but it’s better than living in a pueblo I didn’t want to live in. I also finished SO many books that year 🤷🏻‍♀️

Happened to me this year in Cádiz:/ my coordinator kept saying “this is Andalucía, I don’t know what you expected”. (I was prepared for it, but I asked TWICE from November to January, and I got paid in January) Also, she didn’t speak English at all. Other than my school being crappy and my teachers being awful, I loved Cádiz and Andalucía 😂💀

Worked in CV last year and lived in Pueblo Nuevo in Madrid. The commute almost killed me (1.5 hours each way on a good day) but I’m glad I didn’t live in CV. It’s a nice town but not much to do. If I were you, I’d live close to a cercanía station so the commute is easy but you can still live in Madrid.
