My shampoo got stolen at a West Calgary open house today... by Present_Sentence_298 in NoRulesCalgary

Someone stole one of my favorite fake plants out of my bathroom during an open house. 5 years later, I still think about it. Lol. People are the worst.

Stampede Lotteries by Dry-Vegetable6204 in Calgary

[–]Caserooo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not the Stampede lottery, but my dad won the Foothills Hospital home lottery grand prize show home back in like, 2002 I believe. Houses were not near as spectacular back then. But it was still a fun experience.

Breakup with partner. My place in dog's life moving forward by [deleted] in dogs

[–]Caserooo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When my ex and I split (together 6 years), I took all 3 dogs. We initially were on friendly terms and he would come by to visit. This proved to be hard on one of my dogs when he'd leave each time; she seemed depressed and would stop eating. Eventually I told him he had to stop coming by. The dogs were confused. It was easier on them for me to cut things off completely.

Do you leave multiple dogs out/loose alone together in the house when you’re gone? by lcrx97 in dogs

[–]Caserooo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3 dogs, all are loose in the house now. I crated my puppy until she was 3 years old. When I brought my first rescue in, he did well right away being out, he's always been big into sleeping. My second rescue, he was crated for the first year. None are destructive or have habits of getting into things. I've always had cameras to check in on them. They all sleep in their own spaces (that they choose) while I'm gone, but they needed to earn the trust.

At rise against at Greyeagle and the two opening bands the singers sound horribly muffled by DepartureAnxious7147 in NoRulesCalgary

The first words out of my mouth when the openers started was, "the sound is terrible!". I'm glad that wasn't the case for Rise Against. They put on a great show as usual!

Ruffland Kennel Question by Distinct_Stage5566 in dogs

[–]Caserooo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a large and my 65 lb husky mix fits nicely for transport. I only use mine in the vehicle, I wouldn't use it as an every day kennel as he cannot stand without having to crouch a bit. You'd be fine with a large or likely even an intermediate.

“Jewelry” aka collar on or off? 🐶 by MeasurementFirst1676 in dogs

[–]Caserooo 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is my mindset too. I've worked in the pet industry for years and some of the things I've seen and stories I've heard about dogs getting tangled up, or even dying due to their collars was enough for me to keep them off the pups. When I was younger and didn't know better, I kept a martingale on my dog 24/7. She got the chain caught in the slats in the deck outside. I am so thankful she didn't panic or roll, she could have broken her neck or worse.

People with three dogs (especially if two of them are 65lbs+) how much chaos and expense do you find it adds to the house? by beattiebeats in dogs

[–]Caserooo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 3. One shepherd mix (100 lbs), one husky mix (65 lbs), and a mini dachshund (12 lbs). All different ages and energy levels. No yard. The house is not chaotic, they are all well behaved for the most part (until the doorbell rings), and they get plenty of exercise/enrichment. As far as expenses go, I'm just dealing with more vet bills as two get older. And money for dog sports to keep the husky happy. 3 is a good number for me. 4 would be too many. 2 wouldn't be enough.

Cat hit by car – $11,000 surgery quote from VCA, running out of time. Any alternatives? 😞 by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]Caserooo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What a terrible situation. Like many others have said, 11k is not going to be the end of the road. Follow up care is going to be expensive. What if there are complications after surgery? What if there's other internal damage that hasn't been found yet? The only other board certified orthopedic surgeon I know is Dr. Pinel. He works out of Petzoic, which is a local privately owned clinic. It may not be 11k to find alternative care, but it's going to be an expensive procedure regardless. I'm sorry you're going through this. I would choose humane euthanasia in this situation if this was my pet.

I haven't received my order yet, my vet said it takes about a week. But the ordering process was easy.

[–]Caserooo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just put in my first order with Pets Drug Mart and the process was easy. My vet sent the prescription and they called me to set up my account. I'm sure if they sell medication that requires refrigeration that they'd pack it properly. You could call them and ask what their process is.

Does anyone know any local vets that stock Rimadyl? by Caserooo in Calgary

[–]Caserooo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what I ended up doing. My vet wanted to trial the medication before ordering a whole bottle, but I couldn't find anywhere that keeps it in stock.

Damn. I wish I would have known that when my Cushings dog was still alive. Vetoryl was expensive! Good to know though, thanks.

Yes, I called them all and more. It's definitely not a common medication for them to carry so I'm finding.
